“We Are a Species with Amnesia”: Graham Hancock Gives a Two Hour Masterclass on ‘Alternative Archaeology’

Researcher and author Graham Hancock has been the leading advocate for a rethinking of orthodox history and archaeology for the last quarter of a century, since the publication of his ‘alternative archaeology’ class Fingerprints of the Gods (although we could perhaps say his earlier book The Sign and the Seal was a brilliant entry into the field).

Last year, Hancock gave a brilliant two hour presentation (since deleted from YouTube unfortunately) covering the gamut of his work on this topic, at the ‘Contact in the Desert’ conference held in California. The range of topics amounts to almost a reverse chronology of his book releases, beginning with the ‘hidden history’ of the peopling of the Americas (which he is writing at the moment); followed by the mystery of the Younger Dryas period towards the end of the last Ice Age, and the possibility of astronomical cataclysms such as comet impacts (both topics covered in his most recent book, Magicians of the Gods); the surprising revelations of megalithic constructions such as Göbekli Tepe, the Great Sphinx and the pyramids; and ancient astronomical knowledge.

Graham Hancock explains how an entire episode of the human story has been lost, an advanced civilisation very different from our own, with advanced technologies In the teeth of opposition from orthodox historians, and an ideologically driven consensus, a new paradigm of prehistory is emerging that will change everything we have been taught to believe about ourselves. Technological skills that should have taken hundreds or even thousands of years to evolve were brought into use almost overnight– and with no apparent antecedents whatever.

Hancock shares his unique experiences and perspective on the mysteries of the human past and explains why he’s convinced we are a species with amnesia forced, more than 12,000 years ago. What is prehistory, after all, if not a time forgotten–a time for which we have no records?
