Stop Worrying! There Probably is an Afterlife

Thanks RPJ!

Quote of the Day:

Unfortunately Greg Taylor is not a scientist and has no science education.

From the first 1-star review of my book

  1. Quote of the day
So Greg, are you saying in your book that these (Fenwick’s studies) views are mainstream? Because if you’re saying something like that in your book (haven’t read it) and here on TDG you seem not to say anything like that at all, I dunno who to trust! ;D
Ninja seems to be rational randian skeptic. Probably also a scientist or has science education as he seems to know about what is pseudoscience and what is not.

    1. A quibble, perhaps, but….
…I frankly have a hard time seeing the words “rational” and “randian” next to one another, Andie. What Randi and his disciples practice is more ideology than dispassionate rationality. There are good skeptics out there, but Randi (who I’ve followed for some 30 years) isn’t one of them IMO.

Having said that, I have yet to read Greg’s book (I will, though), but as for the 1 star review on Amazon: I’m weary of critiques/reviews that focus on the author’s formal education or degrees rather than the research itself. The history of science is replete with major breakthroughs made by insightful amateurs (as T.S. Kuhn noted, the paradigmatic discoveries of science are usually made either by newcomers to a field or those outside of it) so that by itself is a non-starter for me. I’ll judge the data on its own merits.

      1. Sarcasm
I’m sorry if my sarcasm didn’t quite get through.
I’ve never seen Randi as a rational person (nor skeptic, he is auto-denier), to me he is only a kid who knows that he could get cool new bike but cannot ride it, so he declares that the bike is BS.

  2. QM “derviation” is not revolutionary nor even new
“As a man who has devoted his whole life to the most clear headed science, to the study of matter, I can tell you as a result of my research about atoms this much: There is no matter as such. All matter originates and exists only by virtue of a force which brings the particle of an atom to vibration and holds this most minute solar system of the atom together. We must assume behind this force the existence of a conscious and intelligent mind. This mind is the matrix of all matter. ” – Mr. Planck

Beyond that the writer of the article throws around the word “reality” all the while missing the fundamental point that we don’t know what reality is.

Retired to his evil-genius cave to concoct a better, 0.5 star review perhaps…[/quote]

Hopefuly coming up with the rat experiment or DMT! That would be nice change after the anoxia argument.
