I’m starting to suspect the U.S. already has a secret Moon base…

  1. Re. “Lab-grown mini-brains show activity similar to babies’ brains.”

From the article: “Brain organoids highly mimic a human fetal brain in its developmental trajectory, but as far as we can tell, they aren’t conscious or thinking.”

    Wishful thinking.

To reiterate some earlier comments, this research is horrifying and nightmarish. Even minimal ethical considerations should dictate to terminate these experiments. These mini-brains grown in vats from stem cells could theoretically develop consciousness of some sort. This possibility can’t be excluded. Imagine the horror of existing without sensory input of any kind – blind and deaf – while assailed by who knows what pain, touch or whatever other sensations from the open-ended undeveloped sensory nerves.
