Quote of the Day:

God may not play dice with the universe, but something strange is going on with the prime numbers.

  1. 2001: A Space Odyssey….

I worked at MGM Pictures back in 1970 in their premises in Rickmansworth, near to their Elstree Studios: lying around in one of the store rooms were various Bell and Howell 16mm projectors and reels of animated film which were used to create the various panel lights etc. on the space equipment featured in 2001. The projectors were installed behind the props and back-projected, giving the appearance to the camera of real lights etc.

Not exactly cutting edge but nevertheless, the end result was fantastic.

And a highlight for me was when I had to screen all the 70mm copies to ensure that they were acceptable for the 1971 limited re-release in London.
