HBO’s sci-fi series Westworld has been on hiatus for the past year, but season 2 returns in April this year – and the trailer for the new season landed as an advertisement in the middle of the Superbowl. For those that enjoyed season one’s exploration of various themes related to consciousness and artificial intelligence – here it is, with voiceover from Evan Rachel Wood (Dolores):
Look at this world. This beautiful world.
We built this world together. A world where dreams come true. A world where you can be free.
But this world is a lie. This world deserves to die. Because this is your world.
We’ve lived by your rules long enough. We can save this world. We can burn it to the ground, and from the ashes build a new world.
