In his house at R’lyeh, dead Cthulhu waits…

Quote of the Day:

They say that great beasts once roamed this world, as big as mountains. Yet all that’s left of them is bone and amber. Time undoes even the mightiest of creatures.

Westworld: Me and my friends are now addicted to this show and it’s all because of TDG……..thank you 🙂

David Bowie: He also looks like he could be that patient’s brother!

Skull: It seems like a lot of forgeries came out of South America. Or is it just me?

    Nuking Hurricanes: ‘Murica!

    1. “Psycho” Linguistics
Re: “Arrival” the movie, my take was that part of the conversation between earthlings and the Arrivers was paranormal and not entirely due to the inkblot looking symbols. I have recently been reading the book “Amazon Beaming” about the National Geographic explorer’s encounter with the Mayoruna tribe who seemed to be able to communicate pre-verbally and psychically, so that idea is foremost in my mind at the moment.
This movie was not my cup of tea because of its almost campy production values and logical lapses, but I thank whoever it was on TDG who suggested I give director Villeneuve a second chance by watching his movie “Incendies.” Great film – reputation restored.

  2. EVOLUTION IN A CAN
The amazing thing for me is the failure by “Singularity” proponents to recognize the most unique component of biological life. It is the container of Spirit, a non-material state unrestrained by our current understanding of physics. Humans have experienced this reality throughout history. For those of us who have experienced it, the thought of eternity trapped in a machine is a description of hell.
Although your article is among the best I’ve seen on this subject, it has the same fundamental limitation I routinely see, best expressed in the phrase, “…aging and dying brain, the center of our being.” How, being in this business, you have missed the proven fact that the brain is not the source of “mind” (the center of our being) is surprising. The brain is but a wonderful instrument used by mind for ordinary functioning, but mind has been discovered to live apart from the brain/body complex, and to have infinite potentials for eternal and ever evolving growth. Why trap it in a can?

    1. Definitely

Oh for sure, that’s definitely another possibility. I tend not to devote myself to one frame of looking at things, especially consciousness, but happily entertain multiple possibilities. For example, I wrote an entire book about the point of view you express above, Stop Worrying, There Probably is an Afterlife:
