A new paradigm….

Thanks Sicco.

Quote of the Day:

Every one is a moon, and has a dark side which he never shows to anybody.

  1. Maria Oktyabrskaya
With regard to the Soviet woman who “bought” her own tank and then fought in it at the front to avenge her fallen husband, while this story appears to be true in its broad strokes, it has almost certainly been highly embellished. To begin with, she didn’t “buy” a tank with 50,000 rubles (less than $1000), she simply donated thr money toward the purchase of a tank. And if her name was really “Oktyabrskaya,” I will eat my smartphone. “Oktyabrskaya” is the feminine form of an adjective meaning “October,” as in “the October Revolution,” referring to the Russian Revolution. Maria is the Soviet equivalent of “Rosie the Riveter.” She probably did actually drive a tank, was decorated for bravery, and even died in combat, but this story is more an example of Soviet-era propaganda than strictly historical reality.

  2. News
Supermoon: I was taking pictures and my camera of ten years decided to kick the bucket :'(

Brothers: I also wonder if they are getting enough nutrition. A vitamin deficiency might be to blame.

Facebook: Why can’t these things be tested at 3am so no one notices?

    1. The moon
I didn’t know about this super moon ahead of time. I took a picture as it was close to the horizon, still touching some trees. It looked gigantic of course. In the picture it looked quite ordinary. The classic illusion of the moon at the horizon – it doesn’t look bigger, it just looks like it looks bigger.

Yes I know it was closer to earth than usual yesterday, but the illusional illusion still dominates.
