News Briefs 14-03-2016

Today is 14-3 for most of us – but for the Americans out there

Quote of the Day:

Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it.

  1. Octopus and Bird
I couldn’t resist watching the octopus/bird video, and while it disturbed me and I now can’t un-see it, it was worth it for the comments posted below. Check em out.

    1. nature v nature
On one side, I imagine the octopus though the bird was food and then realized it was too big to eat.

On the other side, the octopus might have been fighting for its life after the gull tried to catch it.

On the other other side, the octopus just want to drown that muthafuka. They are intelligent enough to murder I imagine.

a new Japanese game show/reality tv?

  2. Uploading the mind to a computer
What does everyone think about the guy who wants to upload our minds to a computer? M
I personally don’t see it happening, if we can’t solve the hard problem of consciousness – how can upload the mind to a computer? Even if I subscribed to that view of the mind – 35 years seems way too soon to me. That’s basically from 1980/81 till now. Doesn’t seem like that long does it?

to me, it reads like a supernaturalist wanting to copy and transfer a soul

maybe this guy could do something different & upload someone’s MEMORIES into someone else…that would be trippy :3

Want to know Kung Fu? I have some Bruce Li, middle years, for sale for cheap :3

Well we still don’t know how or where memories are stored. I think he’ll be disappointed personally. I’m too convinced by psi and afterlife research to think this will work – too many materialistic/mechanistic assumptions with too much contradictory evidence for this to work IMO,
