News Briefs 05-01-2015

And we’re back for another year! Welcome to 2015, Grailers…

Thanks @djp1974.

Quote of the Day:

Let our New Year’s resolution be this: we will be there for one another as fellow members of humanity, in the finest sense of the word.

  1. 2015: Is a New Cosmology Foreseen?
Over the Holidays I read the new book, The Copernicus Complex, by Caleb Scharf, who wrote the article “Will we find extraterrestrial life in 2015?” for the Scientific American website. (Scientific American also published his book).

    http://www.amazon.com/The-Copernicus-Complex-Significance-Probabilities/dp/0374129215

The book is informative, but doesn’t answer the basic question it poses, “Is life on Earth special or not?” It is particularly and painfully obvious that science has no clue as to how our solar system developed and thereby became hospitable to life. So, being the shameless opportunist (and hopeless romantic) that I am, a new book by yours truly is now in the works! It will not be published by Scientific American, of that we can be sure!!

    1. well…….
I am more and more convinced that the “Electric Universe” folks have the right idea and that the “regular” scientists have it wrong on how the Universe works, stars are formed, planets formed, etc.

Once that step is made, everything else seems to fall into place.

Myself, I do believe in the “Pan-Spermia” theory and that life, in it’s most basic form, came to Earth and developed over time into what we have now. Other worlds probably followed a similar path, though not necessarily with the same results. I do believe that life, in all it’s many forms, is the rule, and not the exception, in the Universe.

  2. The trip then and now…
In re: Why there’s a shortage of LSD.

How times change. Back in the ’60s and ’70s, freaks kept track of the overall acid supply by way of underground newspapers like… The Great Speckled Bird. There was usually a message buried in them for those who knew what to look for. I didn’t but I knew those who did… or claimed to.

When things got scarce, it was time for a trip (ha ha) to the local cow fields to collect ‘shrooms en-mass. Then, a little cooking, a sack of sugar and a few other things and… wa-lah.

Of course, that was a long, long, long time ago. If I could relive all that knowing what I do today… things would be a tad different.

Hope all had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 🙂

  3. To all who sees these, Greetings!
This is a special place for me. I don’t often comment, but I read here daily. I hope to be able to be a contributor at some point, since I derive so much from here it’s only fair that I return something, even if only a token of thanks.

Having said that, I truly wish for everyone here to have a most wondrous and prosperous New Year!

    1. Cheers!
