Ca va?

Quote of the Day:

It seems to me what is called for is an exquisite balance between two conflicting needs: the most skeptical scrutiny of all hypotheses that are served up to us and at the same time a great openness to new ideas … If you are only skeptical, then no new ideas make it through to you … On the other hand, if you are open to the point of gullibility and have not an ounce of skeptical sense in you, then you cannot distinguish the useful ideas from the worthless ones.

  2. Orphaned Stars Outshine the Rest?
The stray star jokes (I mean theories) have already started! You wonder though whether any planets orbiting these stray stars would contain enough “star dust” to sustain life.

  3. Controlled Neanderthal Breeding?
The article asks a very good question: Since we now know that modern humans have a small amount of Neanderthal DNA, why is it so small? In myth (as well as in the Bible) we have the memory of a race of Titans/Nephilim interbreeding with another “native” race. There is also indication that this interbreeding was not random, but a deliberate attempt to capture advantageous genes (perhaps from the Neanderthals). As with animal breeding, you first mate two different breeds and then “breed out” all of the traits of the second animal except the ones that are desired. This seems to have been the point of Ea/Enki mating with his daughter, granddaughter and then great-granddaughter. The outcome of the project also seems to have been a new dynastic line that supplanted/superseded the original one (and remembered as the “Fall of the Titans”).
