News Briefs 03-11-2014

Just looked back in the archives and found a post from me in 1999 in which I said I had run out things to say to introduce the daily news briefs. So you can imagine where I’m at in 2014…

Quote of the Day:

Tired of lying in the sunshine staying home to watch the rain.
You are young and life is long and there is time to kill today.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you.
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun.

  1. What ain’t and what may be
“Will the Virgin Galactic crash set back space tourism?”

I’ve never quite been able to wrap myself in the concept that a basic 6-minute experience of weightlessness should (or even could) count as ‘space tourism’.

On the flip, should Bigelow succeed with orbiting, inflatable hostels and somehow acquire access Sierra-Nevada’s ‘Dream Chaser’ (after NASA booted it for Boeing’s non-existent CST-100 project), the real deal for a space-vacation could come to fruition.

The Dream Chaser would be the perfect vehicle for non-astronauts and the orbital inns. Wow, how about a honeymoon there!

It’s enough to keep ya hoping 🙂

  2. UFO…oye
The India UFO is clearly a meteorite or piece of space junk hurtling towards earth. I’m sorry but it’s pretty obvious. You can see as the tail keeps altering it’s shape as chunks burn off. The tail stops and starts again as it moves through the changing atmosphere getting smaller and smaller until is can no longer produce a tail because there isn’t much of it left.

Brace yourselves India for a flood of meteorite hunters.

  3. Zodiac killer . . .
Highly likely won’t ever be conclusively identified because it’s conceivable there was more than one killer, though only one was claiming credit for all the murders.

Anyway, The Zodiac probably will remain America’s 20th century Ripper. Just about every decade a new prime candidate will be promoted but none will ever be satisfactorily proven to be the murderer.

But, it’s always fun to investigate and speculate.
