  1. Post- traumatic stress disorder in murdered people
Is this a test of the audience maybe? If not: do they want to repel any serious readers?
“Strong evidence” based on delusional fantasies? Hello?

Did the researcher know who was an actual murder victim or blinded? Where study subjects screened pre-mortem for PTSD, those murdered and those in control group interviewed?
As far as I could see this is not mentioned in the abstract at all, but would be almost only valid method. How was subject identity ensured? Why not publish this open access then so it can get a fair chance being criticized? If making such big claims based on poor design, a researcher cannot continue in mainstream science, and would have to continue with para-science maybe.

There are known changes in living brains associated with PTSD, including anatomical.
How come dead people without brain develop such a disease?
If the soul is free to choose what changes to the brain it can induce, why choosing inducing damage associated with PTSD then?

I think it is pre-mature to consider possible treatment of post mortem PTSD induced by murder.

But, in fact, investigating disease in dead people might put an end to the whole debate regarding afterlife. What is it that is sick, the soul, the brain, can soul without brain be sick? If so, why does soul cause brain disease if disease of soul is the primary cause??

  2. Zeus in China… or the Grigori

Now God only knows how these texts relate to each other and who is copying who and where there is independent if lost evidence. But, leaving aside textual problems, what were these ‘giants’ in the west? Creationists and anarcho-archaeologists (and others of that ilk) might start to get excited about the giants of Genesis and remember bones of twenty feet men dug up in the US, ‘mysteriously’ lost to science. But there is a far more credible explanation namely that these were statues seen by Chinese travellers in the west or even ‘to the west’ in the parts of central Asia penetrated by Alexander and his armies. And here Dr Nickel makes an important point: the Greek gods were said to be twelve; school children are still taught about ‘the twelve Olympians’

Well pardon me for getting excited as well, my good doctor, but maybe it should be pointed out that in The Book of Enoch, the Grigori (Watchers) who descended from Heaven unto Mount Hermon were also 12.

From Wikipedia (sorry, I get lazy sometimes):

    • Araqiel (also Arakiel, Araqael, Araciel, Arqael, Sarquael, Arkiel, Arkas) taught humans the signs of the earth. However, in the Sibylline Oracles, Araqiel is referred to not as a fallen angel, or Watcher, but as one of the 5 angels who lead the souls of men to judgement, the other 4 being Ramiel, Uriel, Samiel, and Azazel.
    • Armaros (also Amaros) in Enoch I taught men the resolving of enchantments.
    • Azazel taught men to make knives, swords, shields, and how to devise ornaments and cosmetics.
    • Gadriel taught the art of cosmetics, the use of weapons and killing blows. It was he who led Eve astray in the garden of Eden.
    • Baraqel (Baraqiel) taught men astrology
    • Bezaliel mentioned in Enoch I, left out of most translations because of damaged manuscripts and problematic transmission of the text.
    • Chazaqiel (sometimes Ezeqeel or Cambriel) taught men the signs of the clouds (meteorology).
    • Kokabiel (also Kakabel, Kochbiel, Kokbiel, Kabaiel, and Kochab), In the Book of Raziel he is a high-ranking, holy angel. In Enoch I, he is a fallen Watcher, resident of the nether realms, and commands 365,000 surrogate spirits to do his bidding. Among other duties, he instructs his fellows in astrology.
    • Penemue “taught mankind the art of writing with ink and paper,” and taught “the children of men the bitter and the sweet and the secrets of wisdom.” (I Enoch 69.8)
    • Sariel (also Suriel) taught mankind about the courses of the moon (at one time regarded as forbidden knowledge).
    • Samyaza (also Shemyazaz, Shamazya, Semiaza, Shemhazi, Semyaza and Amezyarak) is one of the leaders of the fall from heaven in Vocabulaire de l’ Angelologie.
    • Shamsiel, once a guardian of Eden as stated in the Zohar, served as one of the two chief aides to the archangel Uriel (the other aide being Hasdiel) when Uriel bore his standard into battle, and is the head of 365 legions of angels and also crowns prayers, accompanying them to the 5th heaven. In Jubilees, he is referred to as one of the Watchers. He is a fallen angel who teaches the signs of the sun.

My fave is, of course, Samyaza, who taught men magic. Billy Meier, anyone? 😉

  3. news
I’ve seen the rats before on Nat Gio or Discovery, they actually learn to follow their keepers around without a leash and seem to be trained like dogs. Since dogs are too heavy and would set off the bombs, they use rats.

    The gathering: Freakin’…adorable.

rats and bats and….chupacabras…the next great flood is gonna be a fun ride 😉

  4. Chupacabras
I truly think that the hairless animals running around Texas are not a new species. All the reasons people believe they are a new species can be [unfortunately] explained away. Assuming that these animals are not mange-ridden, the hairless gene in their DNA is clearly causing some stress on their bodies. They are usually skinny and malnourished. The reason their fangs look longer is because their skin is pulling back as they loose weight. No hair isn’t a good thing even in Texas, fur protects the animals skin from the sun and it acts as a form of air conditioning.

Many of the animals have “nodules” on their hind end. These are similar to calluses, which appear after a longtime of sitting on a flat butt with no fat to protect it. These animals, I don’t believe, are capable of taking down their natural pray and are reduced to killing livestock because it is easy.

The three toes phenomenon: The stuffed one on display we usually see on TV shows has four toes, but some paw prints seem to have only three. This sometimes happens if a canine gets it’s foot stuck in a trap and manages to tear himself free. Coyotes are still trapped and hunted around the US. If a coyote or any other canine looses a toe from a trap, it is not uncommon, if they free themselves, to heal and as it heals, the foot will deform into three toes. Birth defects are also possible. In extreme cases they can even form into one super pad, which is sad because they can’t run anymore. (Source:http://huntdrop.com/uploads/gamecams/deformed-coyote-killed-hitchita-ok1.jpg)

Drinking blood: There doesn’t seem to be any part of the canid in question’s anatomy that suggests it drinks blood. Vampire bats drink blood, but they are small and if they drink to much they can’t fly. Plasma is horrible for nutrition, so the idea of a larger animal drinking it, the dog would need to take down an entire herd of sheep! Canids do however “practice” with their young on weaker easier pray and have been known to kill whole groups of livestock without eating a single one. Since they bite the neck it’s possible the blood drained out.

Finally, the test results of the ONE specimen we keep testing seems to be getting skewed. One test showed no relatives, another showed coyote and dog, another showed wolf and coyote…what the F***?! In the end they are technically the same animal, all of which can interbreed, and do occasionally, and produce offspring which can also reproduce.

In conclusion, while I would want nothing more to believe the canid chupa to be a new species, it doesn’t show enough signs of being one. As for the chupa from PR, that seems to be an entire different animal. Genetically the canid chupa doesn’t seem like a viable species, but only nature will decide.
