    Wish more people could see this perspective. Mankind think they are oh, so powerful and are going to save the planet! A good reality check!

    1. Lately I have fallen into
      Lately I have fallen into this sort of mental “tic” when I go outdoors and contemplate how many times the sun has risen and set on my patch of earth. The sheer persistence of repetition – incredibly persistent and monotonous – strikes me as a great and inscrutable wonder. We think of the universe as being chaotic but from some perspectives it is the opposite of chaotic. It is the Everyready Bunny times a quadrillion quadrillion quadrillion with no end in sight. Five more billion years of this before our blazing timekeeper goes nova? Geesh!

    Of course, this is one interpretation of how things began and what’s been going on since then.

    There are, of course, other interpretations and theories that, I would argue, are just as valid.

    In the end, it all comes down to whether we are all just part of some grand hallucination, or maybe even the bits of a great cyber-program run amok.
