Mapping UFO Hotspots

Here’s an interesting visualisation of data from the National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC): the National UFO Sighting Mapping, Analysis, and Tracking Integration Cybersite maps reported UFO sightings on a map of the United States and the border provinces of Canada. This video is a collection of 14-day “density” plots for 12 months from March 2010 to March 2011 (red indicates a lot of sightings, through to purple for few sightings).

You can ‘drill down’ into the actual sightings at the NUFOSMATIC website.

  1. UFO hotspots
    It matches population density really, so I’m not sure this map has a lot to offer regarding UFO patterns. It stands to reason there’ll be more sightings where there are more people to report them.

    The pattern on the east coast looks like a Grey face (red are eyes and mouth, green facial outline). 😉

    2. UFO Sightings Versus Population Density
      Your observation is not lost on us.

      If you look at the “Comparative” page on http://www.nufosmatic.com/ you will find a display of the home office of all of the 435 members of the 107th congress mapped as if they were sightings along with a “density” chart. Congress is apportioned according to population, so this is a quick way of displaying population density using the same math we are using to plot UFO sightings.

      Yes, sightings only need people, outside, and looking up.

      NUFORC recently produced a sighting-vs-population on a per-county basis. I haven’t found a link to the product map, but there are some postings on the Internet (there is one here: http://devoid.blogs.heraldtribune.com/files/2011/01/nuforc1.jpg).

      We are looking for a database of cloud cover to integrate with population and sightings. It is our belief that this is the third variable that explains this disparity; people, outside, looking up, and having a clear sky to see things in.

    For fun, they could start correlating this map with other things, like gravimetrics, or sunspot activity, or wars, or protests, or the NASDAQ, or such, and see what patterns emerge :3

      I’ve actually signed that petition, although I’m not holding my breath waiting to see if it’s going to work the miracle of opening the heavens and seeing the disclosure files descending from above.

      First of all, it’s terribly biased in its choice of words:

      “We, the undersigned, strongly urge the president of the United States to formally acknowledge an extraterrestrial presence engaging the human race and immediately release into the public domain all files from all agencies and military services relevant to this phenomenon.”

      Do we know for certain that these entities have an extraterrestrial origin? Imagine for one minute if the government had an indication that these are in fact inter-dimensional beings; they would have the perfect justification then to deny everything to the petitioners —”no, we know nothing about an extraterrestrial presence on Earth. Now, if you had asked us about the Mole people planning to take over the Earth, well…”

      In any case, the Disclosure show has two avenues, and one has always been if they decided to show up a-la V wit big-ass ships hovering over every major city. Since this hasn’t happened yet, why do you think the people in authority positions would risk it all by showing their cards first?

      Who knows? IMO these beings are already deeply involved in a ‘grassroots’ contact with the average person, instead of doing what we assume they should do, which is giving a damn about our pedestrian social structures —have you ever seen a biologist concerning itself with the hierarchical position of the bear they shoot with a tranquilizer in order to tag it for study? 😉

      1. I don’t look forward to any
        I don’t look forward to any official government disclosure because it will likely be spun to further some totalitarian agenda. I would rather see the space brothers take over a broadcasting satellite and tell us directly what is up, and I don’t think they will intercede like that unless they have had to halt some stupid human fiasco like a nuclear war.

        These are by and large not stupid aliens – they know what a psychological shock would attend public disclosure and are not about to suddenly pop up unambiguously unless things really get out of hand down here. More likely is that the government military industrial complex will co-opt disclosure for its own purposes and try to confuse the situation as much as possible because confusion is always to their advantage in controlling the masses and making money.
