Zahi is Obnoxious?

The New York Times reviews Chasing Mummies, the new reality TV show featuring the king of the pyramids, Dr Zahi Hawass – and for once, a story about the Big Z tells it like it is:

Zahi Hawass, secretary general of the Supreme Council of Antiquities in Egypt, seems to get his name in the papers and his face on television every time anyone sticks a shovel in the ground there.

The resulting fame — the man has become ubiquitous on history-heavy American cable channels — has apparently given Dr. Hawass, like many celebrities before him, the mistaken impression that any sort of personal behavior will be embraced by his adoring public, because he sure is obnoxious on “Chasing Mummies,” an annoying new show that begins Wednesday night on History.

Ouch.

    1. The Mummy’s Hand
If we could just get one mummy to grab the Big Z, it would scare that attitude straight out of him!!!

Now all we need is an animation spell… or the e-mail addresses of a couple of suitably offended interns. It would make the running for prank of the century.

      I’d pay to see it.

    2. not until
Not until they print a retraction, admitting that scientific evidence proves that Zahi built the pyramids. That’s long overdue anyway, give the man some credit.

  1. You guys …
…are all going to go straight to hell! God will never forgive you for poking so much s**t at the great Pooh-Bah!!!

Regards, and thanks for the laugh, Kathrinn

    1. If I hear Zahi disparage new
If I hear Zahi disparage new agers one more time I’m going to bite my pillow.

Haven’t seen the show yet but love the trailer where Zahi is apparently losing his cool in a tight, sweaty space and screeching like a little girl. Sounds terrific!

  2. What fluff and other stuff
Z bra Ha wassup ego 1 is all hot nile air and like nails on the chalk board gratting to my nerves.

Dear God, I can’t stand that guy. When he got fired way back when, he should have stayed fired. Ya know, he reminds me of a big sweaty bully who stomps his feet when he wants it his way.

Like when he chased graham H of the top of the pyramid when he climbed it. Z bra Ha wassup ego 1 says, he could of fell.

How, from the dirty Z bra ha wassup ego look down.

  3. A fascinating subject…
…blighted by one camera hog. When the Big Z hoves into view (and hearing)on our tv screen the cry goes up; “Zahi Alert!” A programme has to be *really outstanding* for our household to persist in watching. Not even going to bother with “Chasing Mummies” unless Big Z is himself mummified in front of the camera. (Dead or alive-we don’t mind.)

    1. There you go

unless Big Z is himself mummified in front of the camera.

You just spoiled the big season finale. I hope you’re happy.

Now we’ll probably have to settle with Zahi mummifying one of his assistants 😉

      1. Happy? I’m Ecstatic!
Now that the mummy is out of the linen strips (so to speak) we can all set our DVD recorders to capture this precious moment. If Zahi settles for gutting an intern, he will go to jail *and be kept incommunicado.*(I’m sure the interns will push forth the most obsequious brown-noser to feature in Z’s demonstration.) It’s a win/win, Red Pill Junkie 🙂

  4. I Don’t Watch Television; But…
    Greg,

Many of the thing that I have read mention his insufferable ego and his love of the spot light. Based on some of the things that I have read in Egyptian newspapers, he seems to have a higher opinion of himself than other Egyptians have of him.

  5. zahi the explorer staged discovery
zahi crawls into tunnel, the brave explorer. never mind the cameraman has preceded him and is ready for the shot! zahi crawls in, and as he is filmed, brushes away some dust to reveal a brightly colored scrap…it’s an image featuring a beautiful goddess. paydirt!!!

zahi looks up to see if the cameraman is ready for his closeup. and revealingly he says, as he glances fish-eyed at the camera…”no one would believe that we just found this here right now.”

at last zahi is right, no one would believe he found it right then.

what hope is there for for meaningful research when the head of antiquities stages finds for the camera? t’mara

  6. no sir you are annoying…
“The resulting fame — the man has become ubiquitous on history-heavy American cable channels…”

Hmmmmm…what one could he have been talking about? I wonder 😉
