My language is shaping the way you think…

Quote of the Day:

I’m morbidly curious about how we’ve arrived at this odd situation where one of the culturally universal human activities, modifying our consciousness with drugs, must be looked down on publicly to the point where our politicians are free to ignore evidence when it suits them. It’s a conspiracy of ignorance that would be unthinkable if it was applied to swine flu but perfectly acceptable for something that already kills thousands upon thousands of people every year.

  1. X-Files
Please, please can we let this series rest in peace? I can’t believe they want to film another one, when the last one was so bad (be honest, it stunk). Good for Anderson. Someone needs to put a nail in this coffin.

    1. X
I wouldn’t say it was that bad, the film was actually deeply layered with themes of faith which I thought was very well done. It just wasn’t the X-Files we grew to love in the first four seasons. In my opinion, the series lost the X factor when Carter gave in to fans wanting romance between Mulder and Scully: he’d always been adamant that their relationship was nothing more than platonic, so i was disappointed he changed the dynamics. Regarding the movie, it ended with Mulder & Scully in a boat somewhere tropical, waving goodbye — surely that’s the end of it?

You’re telling me you never wondered where that boat was? 😉

I agree, the X-Files was, for me, the best TV series of all time. But that doesn’t mean I’m willing to see my beloved characters in an endless array of pointless sequels.

And I’m using the term ‘pointless’, in the sense that it doesn’t add anything relevant to the X-Files universe, or to the development of the characters.

  2. Help?
Wondering if anyone can give me a hand finding something, possibly for use in a Reality Sandwich article. I think there was an item posted on Daily Grail some time in the last year or two about a channeled message from one of the members of the Society for Psychical Research, I don’t remember which member. He spoke about how his wildest expectations for the afterlife were vastly exceeded, and explained that afterlife was a merging of one’s conscious and unconscious minds. Tried searching but no dice. If anyone could point me to it, I’d greatly appreciate it.

Is this perhaps what you’re looking for?

  3. 50 glorious sci-fi movie intro voiceovers.
Even though it’s not technically an intro, I would’ve included Blade Runner.
