I dream of the day when time stands still…

Thanks Kat, RPJ and Jameske.

Quote of the Day:

Penetrating so many secrets, we cease to believe in the unknowable. But there it sits nevertheless, calmly licking its chops.

  1. Blue Origin’s New Shepherd and “Secrecy”
Blue Origin has been far better at posting interesting and informative updates than others, especially the ironically most well known but most reticent The Rutan Clan. Blue Origin’s work has also been covered by my favorite sources for private space development, Personal Spaceflight http://www.personalspaceflight.info/ , Encyclopedia Astronautica http://www.astronautix.com/ and of course The Cosmic Log http://cosmiclog.msnbc.msn.com/ . I can only assume that Space.com’s claim of “secretive” be interpreted as “Not feeding us poor secondary media outlets with enough material to satisfy our advertisers, so we’re going to make an outrageous claim in order to try to up our readership numbers.” Of course when developers do provide enough material to satisfy the advertisers, they end up getting criticized every time something doesn’t go right the first time or as fast as it might otherwise. I think that despite intending to be businesses, these start ups have finally caught on to the value of controlling what gets said about them and by whom (the whom being those who report accurately rather than spectacularly whether called for or not).

No, I am not the brain specialist…..
YES. Yes I AM the brain specialist.

  2. You were always on my mind – Elvis
Do you see the Virgin Mary in this brain scan?

This is called Pareidolia a psychological phenomenon involving a vague and random stimulus (often an image or sound) being perceived as significant – interesting yes, but nothing special.

If its not Elvis, its the virgin Mary, or a face on Mars and so on. I wonder if anyone would pay money for mould patch that looks like my postman.

Twisting this around why do channelers only channel important people like an Atlantis high priest – why never an Atlantis sewer worker named Nortonrah, or a crystal salesman?

    Cheers

    1. Hey, if it helps
From the story it looks like the lady whose brain produced that image is in desperate need of money. So, if someone decides to buy that picture—for whatever reasons— and help her out with the huge medical bills… well, I would be tolerant enough to pass it as a miracle 😉

  3. Alien Comet
This would be an extraordinary discovery, but much more evidence is needed before the alien origin is any more than a hypothesis. Fortunately, Machholz 1 will be close to the Sun again in 2012 [emphasis mine], when astronomers can study its bright coma of gases again.
Well, well, well! Our favorite date pops up yet again 😉

Hey, is any one of you Grailers planning on getting married in such a popular year? After all, postponing the wedding even further might not be such a good idea after all 😛

    1. 2012 = Y2K
The Mayan calendar is a countdown of a cycle – once it reached the end it is restarted on a new cycle – that is just the way it is.
Maya stelae occasionally show dates beyond 2012. Most of these are in the form of “distance dates”, where a Long Count date is given with a distance date to be added. For example, on the Tablet of Inscriptions from Palenque the following Long Count date was found: 9.8.9.13.0 8 Ahau 13 Pop (March 24, 603 Gregorian) with a distance date of 10.11.10.5.8. The resulting date is given as 1.0.0.0.0.8 5 Lamat 1 Mol,[10] or October 21, 4772 – almost 3,000 years into the future. The king Pacal of Palenque predicted that on this date the eightieth Calendar Round anniversary of his accession will be celebrated, suggesting he did not believe the world would end in 2012
As sure as you are reading this the “2012 Movement” are rehearsing their “cosmic excuses” for when nothing happens 🙂

      Its all very entertaining.

Remember: Dogs flew space ships, the Aztecs invented the vacation, your brain is not the boss; Everything You Know is Wrong!

      Cheers
