Last Call!

This coming Monday is the Daily Grail’s 10th birthday*! As mentioned previously, we’re ‘celebrating’ this feat by asking for voluntary subscriptions to the site, in order to help the site grow and continue on for years to come. With more than 10,000 readers per day, that should be a simple matter of asking everyone to chip in just a dollar or two (not bad value you’d have to say, for 10 years of TDG). Unfortunately, the apathy monster generally has a pretty firm grip on everyone out there – but *you* might just be that free-spirited exception, willing to support independent news and commentary! So, one more time, this is how you can help out:

You can donate using Paypal, credit card, or via selected debit cards, using the PayPal donation button beneath:

(edit 11th May 2011: the button has now been removed due to a change in PayPal account)

As mentioned previously, there will be prizes distributed to lucky ‘subscribers’ – so throw in a few dollars and give yourself a chance. Trust me, you’ll be kicking yourself when your neighbour proudly shows off his newly won special TDG merchandise…

For those number-crunchers out there – of the 232 voluntary subscribers so far, European and UK readers are currently the majority contributors over the USA (barely), with Scandinavian countries in particular making up a huge proportion, given the percent of readers we have from there versus the US. We definitely need to post more Viking stories here on TDG…

Sincere thanks to all those who have contributed thus far – hopefully you’ll enjoy watching TDG evolve and grow over the coming years, on the back of your wonderful support.

* For those expecting fireworks and celebrations for our birthday, please note that currently I’m barely able to stay upright due to a severe dose of flu. Sorry!

  1. Vikings give more than they pillage

Uh, perhaps I shouldn’t have posted that story about Vikings being yellow-bellied cowards, fleeing Canada like scared little kitty cats? So before I get an axe in the back of my head, I’d like to say that Greg has dedicated a decade of his life to bringing free information on topics that are ignored and bullied and ridiculed by mainstream press, so that we all may benefit and increase our understanding of the universe and our place in it. I’m still as clueless as I was when I first stumbled upon TDG way back in 1999, but I’m sure you are all richer for the experience. Imagine what wonders Greg could do with TDG if we all, more than 10’000 of us, chipped in a dollar or two. For extraterrestrials reading, I’m sure Greg will accept technology exchange, a weekend joyride around the solar system, a personal Tool concert in his backyard, or enlightenment. Actually, the last two may be one and the same.

Besides, Greg has ten kids to feed. There’s something in the water in Queensland.

  2. 10 years!
I’m so glad that I’ll be around to see the next 10 years of TDG.

If you have read some of my comments, then you know I don’t believe in coincidences; finding the TDG community, and to be accepted in it, has been one of the best things that have happened to me in a long time.

It felt like… coming home 🙂

  3. Donation
Finally got around to paypal. I would like to donate an axe (not in the back). Hope it is OK with some green $ from the big US. Sorry for the delay in payment. The summer in Norway is very busy (and short) for farmers. By the way, I really love this website. Take care all grailers. Paypal is very easy. (hint).

Screw the Vikings, how about some stories about that the great Cthulhu is a Finn! 🙂

Anywho, I’m sorry that I’m just a poor bastard and couldn’t affort to donate as much as I wanted. It’s a hard life being a game journalist.

Thanks for the site, Daily Grail is one the best places on the Web.

I couldn’t think of anything scarier than Cthulhu than Cthulhu with Finnish death metal. 😉

Amazing how TDG has readers all over the world. Fantastic.

  5. This may cure your flu Greg
This may cure your flu Greg — my new book is being sold for no revenue on my part (but I’m indulging in RAW format). Meanwhile alchemy is now officially real through TRANCE SONGS.

    Maybe not!

  6. As I’ve said before, I do
As I’ve said before, I do still fully intend to donate but the last few weeks have been barely mitigated hell at my end (illness and finally death in the family). I’m hoping to get a cheque to you within the week, though.

    1. Peeking duck
lol I misread your post, and thought you donated a duck dinner! Greg likes Peking, I hear. But not at the moment, probably just soup. Heh, now I imagine you as Gordon Ramsay, Earthling. 😉

  7. A few bucks
Dude, 10 years have gone by pretty quickly, no? Well i’ve been in and out of following the site over those 10 years so even though i’m out of a job right now in an economy our Chancellor Darling (as opposed to darling chancellor) seems to think is facing its worst prospects for 60 years, i’m more than willing to put a few bucks in because it’s worth it and important that we pitch in our support for all you and the other guys do. And if i can more than a few of the other 10,000 of you can too.

All the best for the next 10 Greg.

  8. $10 coming your way
Hi Greg and TDG et al,

You most recent post reminded me that I should put my money where my mouth is.

You should make that donate via PayPal button a permanent fixture of the site.

    Here’s to another 5 years …

  9. I agree with dp1974
Firstly, Greg, I sincerely hope you recover from your ‘flu soon.

Secondly, I think you should leave the Donate button permanently on the site. We may find the odd few dollars every now and then that we can add to your collection, and we’d need a place to donate it.

“Happy Birthday” to the Grail and all the Grailers. And – thank you for initiating the site and all your hard work over the years.

    Regards, Kathrinn.
