  1. have any of those dudes be influenced by P.T Barnum?
P.T Barnum was an extremely successful skeptic cynic. His claim to fame are phrases like, there is a sucker born every minute, and don’t give a sucker an even break. P.T could hype with the best of them when it came to hustling for a buck. He filled his sideshows with what he termed ‘freaks of nature’.
I have not read much sci-fi since my initial encounter with Philip K Dick and Arthur Clarke 50 years back. It seems once the genre has been over-exploited like the blackula movie spins, it all seem like tweaking out the last bit of marmite from a year old jar, a lot of effort for whatever flavor is left.

Hopefully these gents have a new twist or spin to flog that create enough interest that folk in general give it a look-see, like the Dan Brown fad.
