A strange assortment to get you through the week…

Enjoy!

  1. whatever………..

I must say I am starting to get a little bit concerned where this website is heading. It seems to be more like a tabloid than a serious appraisal of the latest inexplicable
    items of news.
Often, the lead into a link suggests an unusual event or occurrence, however, when one reads the the actual article, it turns out, it’s just a filler one expects to find in the “Daily Bullshit”.
    I expect more…………
    Regards Badeye.

    1. Agree
But I must admit there is a limit for how many unusual events will happen each day. Perhaps we are spoiled?

Could you be a little more specific? I’d like to divine exactly which posts/stories aren’t up to scratch for you personally, and then integrate that into the needs and wants of the other 15,000 readers, but between the 5 hours a day I do this to help others out free of charge, and living my actual life, it kind of helps if people give me intelligent feedback. You could say “I expect more…”.

      Kind regards,
      Greg

      1. I think it was ‘The lesbian
I think it was ‘The lesbian sex orgies’ link that came across as tabloidish. Otherwise, I feel the youtube addition has been a wonderful fit. I specifically enjoy the occasional lecture series in the Youtube addition. 80’s music videos are on Youtube too. My favorite one is ‘Working for the Weakend’ or The Cars You Might Think. But seriously here is a tribute to Carl Segan. Keep up the good work, Greg.

      2. Badeye
        Greg, forgive me for

        Badeye
Greg, forgive me for upsetting you, however I do think that sometimes there is a sensational theme running through the site. You and the other contributors do a fine
job, and I don’t doubt you all work hard at sifting through the flotsam and jetsam found in the net. I must say, I missed the one about the Lesbians.
        regards Badeye………

    3. latest inexplicable news – vs. Daily BS
Since some of TDG’s visitors don’t read TDG’s Blog section as regularly as they read the News Briefs, etc., I thought I’d best post a comment here, to draw your attention to my related blog, Come One, Come All.

I will try to check out your links, but there are alot!!
I have never doubted you people research your stuff, but I sometimes think that some of the content is suspect. I am not a journo, and do not want to write a blog. I am a punter( I mean that,(in Australian Parlance)I am a consumer, a user of your service, and I think that as consumer of your service, I am allowed to make a comment. Peas and love ( that was not a spelling mistake )

        1. Suspect Content
          Badeye,

It pays to keep in mind two things:

          a) We do this in our spare time. Unlike paid media people, we don’t get to spend 8 hours at a good wage checking everything. As I’ve said previously, it’s a miracle it all comes out so damn good, considering the lack of editorial process.

          b) Our topic of choice is science, history and knowledge in general on the fringe of the paradigm. If you are worried about ‘suspect’ content, you’re visiting the wrong site. We try to keep TDG as ‘respectable’ as possible (compared to other sites which will post any BS), but between the large audience (over 10,000 per day) with various tastes, and our choice of ‘fringe’ subject matter as mentioned above, we can only encourage readers to use their own powers of discernment when choosing/reading stories as much as possible.

          Kind regards,
          Greg
