Erowid.org have made available John W. Allen’s book Mushroom Pioneers as a free HTML document. The book looks at how people such as Maria Sabina, R. Gordon Wasson and Timothy Leary (among others) brought the original shamanism of magic mushrooms back into the consciousness of 20th century westerners (pun not intended).
