News Briefs 03-08-2005

This news is part-Jameske, part-me. Let’s just call it an unwanted lovechild…

Quote of the Day:

We’re playing with half a deck as long as we tolerate that the cardinals of government and science should dicate where human curiousity can legitimately send its attention and where it can not. It’s an essentially preposterous situation. It is essentially a civil rights issue because what we’re talking about here is the repression of a religious sensibility. In fact not a religious sensibility, the religious sensibility. Not built on some con game spun out by eunichs, but based on the symbiotic relationship that was in place for our species for fifty thousand years before the advent of history, writing, priestcraft and propaganda.

Terence McKenna

  1. Naive
One good thing about filtered bottled water is that it won’t have hormones, birth control pills, and chemicals in it. I do have a feminine side, but I’m not in any hurry to grow a pair of female breasts.

    1. Evian=Naive
I buy bottled water for the bottles, which I use for weeks at a time. Most other people I’ve talked to say the same. The author makes a few good points, but like many angry social critics, comes from a place so isolated from the concerns of most people that he might as well live in a unabomber-style shack on top of a Himalaya. Maybe he does, or thinks he does.

  2. cisco article
Since I couldn’t get that wired.com article to open, I searched google for another source. From what I’ve read, the reaction of Cisco and ISS sure has pissed a lot of people off.
Exploit writers are now teaming up to target Cisco routers.

  3. Excellent quote
    Hi Greg,
The best part of the news today is the quote.I quite agree.I love the idea of the symbiotic relationship.
Once laws are passed to forbid our interaction with nature or our interest in what nature provides we are being cut off from what is naturally our’s.
It is more than a crime.
    It is a sin.

    Thanks,

    shadows

      1. adding to the mckenna thread
Love McKenna and the quote but would add *symbiotic relationship “with plants/nature/earth”
people might not understand it having no knowledge of that great man!
