Quote of the Day:

The scientists of today think deeply instead of clearly. One must be sane to think clearly, but one can think deeply and be quite insane.

Nikola Tesla

  1. mentally ill
Define insane. I don’t think we should define these individuals as “ill” at least by what the average human is ranked by. First off if this is an example of illness, then I guess genius is a bad thing. Most of these individuals were not born with their respective “illnesses” but instead just had bad parenting. Also it has already been dismissed that Einstein had autism. But even if he did, don’t define it as an illness. It clearly isn’t an illness for him. Illness suggests something medically wrong, and yes, hoarding and OCD seem like mental disorders. But as someone who comes from a long line, sadly, of mental illness in the family in various forms (depression, autism, hoarding, schizophrenia) I know that true mental illness makes it impossible to function in society. Tesla, whom you quoted, was said to loose his mind because he cared for injured pigeons. I think that’s just a front by the government to cover up his death. Nietzsche was said to go insane, but his family was the real cause of it. I would say there is no human on earth without mental “illness,” it’s just a matter of how you focus it. You can’t define normal because your normal is different from my normal. To quote a favorite song of mine:

    …I don’t need no surgery
Take those knives away from me.
Just let me die in my own body
    A ghost just needs a home…
