“The image of the cosmos must change with the development of the mind and knowledge…”

Quote of the Day:

“It’s only when a man tames his own demons that he becomes the king of himself if not of the world.”

Joseph Campbell

  1. starfish
This is a topic that concerns me actually, growing up, living in, and now working in a shore community I’ve seen many a starfish. However, it is not lost on the locals that the population has gone down, mainly because of visitors to the area in the summer months who take the starfish home as souvenirs instead of throwing them back. Unless they are dry as a bone they are still alive, and even then, they stink like hell when they do. The only way to properly prepare them is to dry them in full sun for a few days and then soak in dish soap for another day. But throw them back first. I’ve actually been working the past few years in rescuing stranded horseshoe crabs at a local beach. Last year I saw so much death of both crab, turtle (marine and snapping) and shore bird from polluted water it was horrifying. I suspect the white disease on the starfish may be attributed to pollution.
