  1. Belief system FAIL
Re: Was the famous Belgian ‘black triangle’ photo faked?

“The mystery of the iconic Petit-Rechain black triangle UFO photo has finally been solved. The photographer, a man named only as Patrick, has admitted making the UFO out of polystyrene in an interview with mainstream Belgian TV channel RTL-TVI.”

There is a certain irony here as we unzip in full view…

To wit: Skeps and media will immediately accept as fact any claim of hoaxery, but robustly ignore or deny a claim of authenticity.

The sources will be equally reliable, even identical, but they choose to believe one over the other with nothing to support either more than the other.

If a person can lie once, then they can lie twice or even thrice, no? Who’s to say that this recant won’t someday be again recanted?

Our belief system needs a tune up.

    1. Uncritical thinking
Agreed. I’ve sometimes said that if I went to the press and claimed I’d hoaxed the Phoenix Lights using some array of kites and lights, it would probably be published as the solution to the mystery, with the skeptics considering the case now closed as well. Amazing how critical thinking sometimes goes out the window where debunking is involved.

      1. You said it guys
Agreed 100% with you both. The skeptics and the media all gave a blank check to the guy claiming hoax without providing any proof to substantiate such claim.

In any case, it doesn’t matter. No one is saying the NATO radars were fooled by a big-ass foam model 😉

  2. Climate Data
Our wonderful scientists do not want to release climate data, well how open can you get.
These people want us to respect “global warming” yet hide the information, makes a lot of sense.

    1. Global Warming Not? Or Not?
Here’s an article I found a day or so back…

“NASA satellite data from the years 2000 through 2011 show the Earth’s atmosphere is allowing far more heat to be released into space than alarmist computer models have predicted, reports a new study in the peer-reviewed science journal Remote Sensing. The study indicates far less future global warming will occur than United Nations computer models have predicted, and supports prior studies indicating increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide trap far less heat than alarmists have claimed.
Study co-author Dr. Roy Spencer, a principal research scientist at the University of Alabama in Huntsville and U.S. Science Team Leader for the Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer flying on NASA’s Aqua satellite, reports that real-world data from NASA’s Terra satellite contradict multiple assumptions fed into alarmist computer models.”

The article appears be held by Yahoo news and traces back to a writer at Forbes. But the writing is really heavily politicized and annoyingly repetitive. So, while I would otherwise be inclined to applaud the information within, it just doesn’t read like something a professional journalist would write for a respected publication.

I’m not sure what to make of it… and I haven’t yet had time to chase down the data it seems to offer.
