Enjoy!

Thanks Greg.

Quote of the Day:

If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.

  1. Remote-controlled flying saucers, and UFO sithings in Mexico
It’s quite possible that some of those UFO sightings are caused by US drones flying over the border to spy the going-ons of the drug cartels. However, the reported UAVs used by the US government do not have the capacity to hover*, and even if they did, I seriously doubt they would send them in formations.

(*)Maybe the US is sending other type of UAVs along with the big plane-like drones, capable of more covert and specialized surveillance. Drones like the ones shown in Mark Pilkington’s blog post.

  2. Did Extraterrestrials Create the Maya Calendar?
I have often read about the Mayans measuring the length of the year by the differences in the length of the days. I can’t help but wonder – just what is the difference in the length of the days in this part of Central America. It just seems to be very close to the equator. I would it to be fairly hard to know exactly which day was the shortest unless you measured every day for several years.
This would make their calculations to be even more amazing to be able to project so far into the furure.

  3. Ironic quote of the day
I can’t help thinking on how the quote of the day takes an ironic overtone, when you consider that Jackson not only threatened to take the production of The Hobbit to Eastern Europe on account of disputes with the acting unions and such; but also that the striking differences between the Peter Jackson of 2001 and 2011, might be best explained by one of the posted comments —“I guess he eliminated “second-breakfast” from his diet.” 😉

  4. Equinox…..
I have, for many years now, been of the opinion that we need a new calendar.

I propose a calendar of 13 months, each with 28 days. No more odd numbers and partial weeks. We have a 364 day year. At the end of it, we take a 1-day (plus a few hours, minutes, etc) break that doesn’t count, and then start the new year.

That keeps all the calendars aligned, days and time accounted for, and everyone has a good time. 4 weeks to the month, 13 months to the year, and heck, we could align it to the lunar cycles if we wanted to. Keeps the women happy, too, you know? 🙂

  5. Sonar, et al…
I don’t buy the idea that US Navy sonar is in any way responsible for whale deaths, beachings, etc.

The US Navy has used the same frequency ranges for decades now, as have every other country. It’s based upon what frequencies best work based upon a variety of factors, including temperature, pressure and salinity of the water.

The Russians, the Chileans, the Germans, the French, the Argentinians, the Chinese, EVERYONE uses the same frequency bands and varying power settings. If the US Navy were causing these problems, why haven’t they occurred elsewhere?

    I call BS.
