Quote of the Day:

“I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells.”

  1. Lisa Nelson – BP Victim?
I feel this item is not a TDG topic and perhaps should not have been included.

It is sad when someone dies, but to blame it all on a trip to the seaside, and further, to blame it on BP is stretching things too far. It has all the hallmarkings of ‘let’s sue someone’ and make money out of this tragedy.

    1. TDG topic
I do try to keep the political stuff to a bare minimum nowadays. However, the BP affair was covered numerous times here at TDG, not only because it was something borne out of greed and corruption, but because it cause a huge environmental impact –something we care deeply about here at the Grail.

  2. What time is it?
Ok i’m in for the time travel thing. I need details though, in particular what weapons would be appropriate. Presumable you wouldn’t want to attract undue attention with out-of-period weapons. On the other hand, you don’t want to bring a knife to a gun fight.

    1. Just like every job ad
They leave out the nasty aspects of it 😉

I’m thinking time travelers would need to have ninja skills. Martial arts would come in handy in all kind of chronological situations. And even if they go back to the Jurassic or something, a good ninja would always be able to camouflage.

Maybe that’s the reason many people report MIBs as having oriental features! :P:P

    1. More like
More like “UK Atheists are morons with no sense of humor and take themselves WAY too seriously.”

PS: I can almost hear Lord Vader stating: “I find your lack of lack of faith disturbing” 😛

  3. Thank-You For Your Concern!
    Red Pill,

I’ve been in lots of earthquakes. During 25 1/2 years in Japan, I’ve been in atleast 3 earthquakes a year, mostly medium and small sized earthquakes. Here in Yokohama, yesterday’s earthquake was about 7.8 on the Richter Scale and 7+ on the Japanese Scale which only goes to 7. I feel certain that there will be a new Japanese Scale that goes to atleast 9. I’m fine and a bit lucky that I was within a few kilometers walking distance from my place. So, it was no problem for me to get home. But, watching tall buildings swaying like trees in a strong wind is a very sobering experience. Yesterday’s earthquake was the strongest earthquake that I’ve ever experienced.*

    *{You probably know this. Quake is a very old English verb that means ‘To Shake’. So, ‘Milk Shake’ and ‘Milk Quake’ mean the same thing.}

    1. Great!
I’m really happy to read that you’re all right, buddy! 🙂

My heart goes to all the victims of this tragedy, but the Japanese people also have my full admiration for the organized way in which they manage these unpredictable natural disasters.

      Go Japan!

      1. Thank-you Again For Your Concern! Our Motto Is Be Prepared!
        Red Pill,

In Japan, earthquakes are predictable. When they will occure and how strong they will be are unpredictable. So, we stay in a constant state of earthquake preparedness. The biggest problem is that it is impossible to adequately prepare for tsunamis. In terms of earthquakes, the biggest problems are the problems that earthquakes and their aftershocks cause. The actual earthquakes usually last less than a minute. In terms of relatively minor consequences of this earthquake, almost half of Tokyo is without electric power or gas and about a third of Yokohama is in the same situation. But, compared to what could have happened, “Who’s complaining?”. We help each other and everything will probably be back to normal by Tuesday morning.
