Quote of the Day:

“Not only is the Universe stranger than we think, it is stranger than we can think.”

  1. Tut, tut. Looks like rain!
Re: Tomb of Tutankhamun may be closed again, forever.

    A couple of thoughts…

One, this will likely bring out a new set of conspiracy theories as to exactly ‘why’ this closing is occurring. They could link back to the old tomb curse and with numerous references to how visitors regularly succumb to various unlikely and unhealthy events.

And undoubtedly, Indiana Hawass (all kneel) will be the subject of all kinds of scrutinies.. though in this case, I would probably side with him, to a degree.

Personally, I think the tomb could be sealed in glass (or plexiglass… or transparent aluminum) so that the real deal could be seen but not exposed to various chemicals from the (living) human presence.

I mean, damn! Some of that stuff that passes for aftershave these days smells like old rotting Tut himself!

    1. closed forever
The Egyptians can close the tomb if they want. But it is hard to predict what will happen in the future, someone might reopen it. Forever is a really long time.

Didn’t they close it forever just after Tut’s death?

      1. Exactly
Archeologists may chose to close an ancient tomb, because they realize they have learned as much as they can with the tools available.

They are confident that in the future new advanced technologies will be available for their successors to continue where they left —but in the meantime, they have the responsibility to those same successors of preserving what remains as intact as possible.

If Paul the Octopus could rightly predict World Cup games, maybe this felicitous feline could aptly judge criminality. Why not? LOL.
