“Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn’t go away.”

Quote of the Day:

“What is real? Because unceasingly we are bombarded with pseudo-realities manufactured by very sophisticated people using very sophisticated electronic mechanisms. I do not distrust their motives; I distrust their power. They have a lot of it. And it is an astonishing power: that of creating whole universes, universes of the mind. I ought to know. I do the same thing.”

  1. Blade Runner Billboard
    I’m ambivalent towards this project.

On the one hand, the idea of giant billboard signs appeals to my fanboy aesthetics.

BUT on the other, being a resident of Mexico city allows me to appreciate how abusive and uncontrollable public advertising can become when left unchecked. The streets of Mexico have several layers of pollution, and one of them is visual pollution.

    Exhibit (A)

And that’s the problem: the minute you allow one building to be equipped with giant light billboards, others will demand the same right. And pretty soon you might be stuck with a veritable almalgam of any kind of displays, demanding your eyeballs’ attention from every corner of the street, during every single yard of your daily commute :-/

      RE: Blade Runner Billboard

“By the way, if anyone here is in marketing or advertising…kill yourself. Thank you. Just planting seeds, planting seeds is all I’m doing. No joke here, really. Seriously, kill yourself, you have no rationalization for what you do, you are Satan’s little helpers. Kill yourself, kill yourself, kill yourself now. Now, back to the show. Seriously, I know the marketing people: ‘There’s gonna be a joke comin’ up.’ There’s no fuckin’ joke. Suck a tail pipe, hang yourself…borrow a pistol from an NRA buddy, do something…rid the world of your evil fuckin’ presence.” –Bill Hicks

      I dunno…it seems oddly relevant…

  2. I Am Become Death, Destroyer of Worlds
Eventhough I tend to give our friend Enigmni Freak a lot of hard time when he exposes his ideas concerning advanced technology in ancient past, I must admit I’m still very open to the possibility of some sort of atomic warfare as it was chronicled in the verses of the Mahabharata —from which the Bhagavad Gita, the text Oppenheimer quoted on that fateful day in 1945, is part of.

So it’s not so far-fectched to conclude that Oppenheimer himself was of the idea that the Manhattan project was not so much inventing the atomic technology, but re-discovering it…

PS: Incidentally, I spent all night watching a lot of paranormal programs at the History Channel, and surely enough they mentioned the enigmatic remains of the indostanic city of Mohenjo Daro on Ancient Aliens. There were quite a few things said on the program that made me cringe, but Mohenjo Daro is a fascinating site indeed.
