“There is no terror in the bang, only in the anticipation of it… ”

Multitudes of thanks to Greg & RPJ (this week) and Perceval (last week)!!

Quote of the Day:

“The only way to get rid of my fears is to make films about them.”

  1. UFO over China
Interesting video until about 30 seconds in when it appears to show a rocket undergoing a ‘stage’ separation. The object at first appears to be travelling across the the sky but after the separation, it appears to be climbing vertically.

For me a rocket launch, not a UFO, maybe up to 80 miles away.

Some videos on the net of American rocket launches are very similar.

    1. Yep it’s a rocket!
For some reason this video keeps making the rounds as the craft that shut down the Chinese Airport. The video is actually of a Russian missile launch filmed near Bishkek, Kazakhstan. The launch occurred on Jun. 30th a full week before the Chinese sighting/airport closure on Jul. 7th.

      http://www.gzt.ru/topnews/world/video/-nlo-nad-bishkekom-30-iyunya-2010-goda-/8722/

There is no video of the craft that caused the closure, but a few pictures purported to be of the craft have been circulating as well, believed to actually be overexposed pictures of a helicopter with searchlights. Perhaps a hoaxer looking to capitalize on the media attention and make some money? No one has produced confirmed video/photo of anything near the airport, so the mystery craft remains a mystery. Chinese officials claim to know what the craft was but aren’t ready to publicly comment.

An amusing footnote though, since the sightings Chinese Airline Shares have seen some growth:

  2. mammoths vs. humans
huntering animals have always helped in reducing the influence of climate change. researchers at yellowstone national park found that there was a lack of aspine trees around the area. they found that after the reintroduction of wolves in 1995 the trees began to return. this is because there were now less elk and bison eating the young plants due to the wolves controlling their populations. not only does eating methane-making animals help the environment, but the added benefit of trees also absorbed carbon dioxide from the air and helped reduce the amount of “warming” in the area. scientists realized that by trying to eliminate the keystone predators in the area, humans unwittingly created a way to create more emissions.

    so eat more cows 🙂

      1. this
Or raise more wolves? :-P
YES! That is also a plus 🙂
and yet, more people keep shooting them in the face instead of realizing how important they and bears and coyotes are to the environment.

          1. coyotes
Coyotes have been expanding their habitat for the last 100 years or so.
yes, both the populations of coyotes and wolves are rising, though the coyote populations around yellowstone and other places where wolves were introduced have declined due to predatory pressures. however coyotes are still hunted legally in South Carolina and some other states because of their high populations.

  3. Higgs rumor
Hey, maybe this was not just a careless blog rumor…

With all those stories about how the Future is preventing us from discovering the boson, MAYBE this was a clever attempt to beat the Future at its own game! 😉
