Massive news with a lot to discuss — I predict two comments. 😛

Thanks Greg, Kat, RPJ.

RPJ already wears his underwear on the outside.

And here I was considering you to be my faithful sidekick. Your name has just been thrown to the back of the list, buster!

  2. Intelligent signal . . .
Sadly, the vast majority of UFO/ET/paranormal stories, photos, videos, etc., that ricochet around the Web are unintentional (or sometimes deliberate) misidentifications or misunderstandings from overzealous believers who failed to first take a minute to apply critical thinking (a skill in very short supply in the world today) to their claim. Hence, all the videos of aircraft landing lights, still photos with bugs and birds zipping through the frame, and stories depicting events that could have half a dozen other plausible, but mundane explanations. I think we can add this signal to the above list. Its reported discoverer/proponent concurrently experiencing a psychological breakdown indicates claims about the signal are far more likely a symptom (not the cause) of the breakdown. Unlike most of the paranormal fairy tales circulating on the internet, this one appears to have a tragic side.

  3. ‘Hourglass’ figures affect men’s brains like a drug
If this is true, then why is the standard of beauty in many Western cultures a female body that approximates that of a terminal cancer patient?

Everyday, countless young women are jeopardizing their health and lives through anorexia and bullemia to achieve a body standard that this study claims is not one that men respond to instinctively.

I submit that most Western men don’t find an hourglass figure all that attractive or that would be the standard of beauty defining all women in current movies, TV shows, magazines, etc.

Christina Hendricks and Patricia Arquette are among a small minority of full-figured US actresses who get featured roles. But the majority of women culturally agreed upon as beautiful and celebrated as such in Western media have bodies resembling those of underweight pre-teen boys with breast implants.

Most men don’t find the starved model look attractive at all — it’s women and fashion designers/women’s magazines who are perpetuating this. Every survey I’ve ever seen (and every fellow man I know) has men preferring women with more natural, fuller bodies. The pressure for stick-thin figures is mostly coming from other women, and media that doesn’t represent society at all.

So you may need to do a bit research — or just, y’know, ask a man — before richocheting that fairy tale around the internet, purrgurrl.

How many women prefer the average bloke over the media stereotype of men who are tall and athletic? Not many, from experience. There are always two sides to a story. From experience, men cop media stereotypes just as much as women — it’s just that most men don’t give a flying rat’s about it (much to their detriment, I think).

Personally, I prefer a woman who’s natural (whether they’re naturally thin or full). Or are we Grail men above the norm? Let’s do a poll. 😉

      1. totally agree…..
in fact, i have not met anyone, male or female, that likes those models on catwalks. I cringe when I see them, just waiting for that “snap” sound of a leg.
I love the natural look, but having spent a couple of years in the hills at Nimbin, there is a line that can be crossed in regards to “natural”.

lol, this made me choke on my tea! 😉

A month ago, I was strolling along to get takeaway dinner when I copped an eyeful of this. My reaction wasn’t “ewww!”, but rather, “I hope those dangly bits don’t get caught in the wheel spokes!”

Anywho, body prejudice exists on both sides of the gender fence, perpetuated by a variety of sources; not everything is man’s fault.

I also want to take back the term ‘catwalk’ – my cat’s a little chubby and she walks with grace.

          1. Nimbinites…..hhmmmmm
hope you didn’t spit your chamomile tea over your monitor, or startle the cat.
I’ve wittnessed those body painted, naked bike riders at Byron Bay once, I think I experienced every emotion known in a minute.
Anywho, anywho, I think it’s not really predudice, it’s more like preferrence to the individual.
The catwalk term is wrong but understood, my cat walks like his on a mission all the time, and he is————–to get me!

I think the real natural girls are the one who dress for themselves and not for trend or other reasons, also they are comfortable with who they are. Guys pick up on that quickly.

      2. Sexiest part of a person?

I hope I did this right. I don’t have a type. I never had a type. I just want someone I can hold a conversation with and is literate. Must like animals, love reading, and be semi intelligent, and into current affairs. (I use to work in a news room). I have dated very handsome men, and some men you wouldn’t look twice at. In the end, it didn’t matter. The sexiest part of a guy are the eyes, and the mind. I would hope that would be the same turn ons for a man. 🙂

Definitely! I have a one-eyed cat too, so I’m not picky about how many eyes either! 😉

If I can’t gaze into a woman’s eyes and have a conversation with her, then forget about it. It may be why I’m still single — all the women I’ve had the chance to date turn out to be materialistic, ego-centric, and not very open-minded or humane (more interested in themselves and their social clique and material trends than the stuff that’s important in life). Which is exactly what my single women friends say about men they date.

Yep. And it’s bloody freezing right now. I can hear Greg laughing up there in warm Queensland…

Nah mate, it’s down to 25C today. I almost had to put a shirt on when I went outside….
            😉

          4. freezing…..HAH
look to Stanthorpes temps, I’m only 70km away from there and 1 or 2 degrees warmer and only 190km from Greg. Altitude makes all the difference, 400m above.
You would think I’d be warmer being closer to the Sun…..

          5. Dating and cats

Glad to know it works the same for both men and women. And cats. Looks really do fade. Or come out of make up jars. People loose their jobs and have to learn to do without. It really made me happy to wake up this morning and find other people think like I do , and there are some amazing cat avatars as well. I know they just started a dating service for Apple addicts yesterday via Twitter. Some very nice people here. I thank my friend RPJ for telling me about this site. -Susan

  4. Hourglass Figures
I disagree with hourglass figures. Nature gave me one, and I’ve found that (straight( guys were never really able to make conversation with me, and an interesting phenomenon happened when I went to college/university- (when said figure developed). The most intelligent men including professors dropped about 20 IQ Points when I would enter the room. It wasn’t til I learned how to dress so everything was covered up and hidden, did their IQ’s go up.

I am kinda glad that the idea of Marilyn Monroe/Jane Russell is gone- it’s much easier for me to get a date, talk to men, etc….. because i cannot and will not ever look like Kate Moss.

But to each is own. Everyone is complicated. My next boyfriend MUST LIKE THE CAT.

I gotta add one more thing. ONe time when I was in London , I saw an exhibition at the V & A museum of corsets(ie: Whalebone) and other things the Queen consorts and their ladies in waitings wore. My gosh! No wonder why they were constantly fainting and having problems in childbirth.

    1. Men by nature
You’ve just hit on a universal truth. Men have TWO heads. When one is stimulated the other is lolly-gagging and vice versa. I really don’t know why this happens, but I can be in the middle of a very intense, very intelligent, very stimulating conversation or debate, and then a beautiful woman(yes, preferably curvy, buxom, and boarder-line plump, not boy or stick-like) jiggles by in a skimpy sundress, and my mind IMMEDIATELY jumps from enlightened conversation to “…boobies…”

      1. My theory
My theory is that there’s only so much blood that can irrigate the body’s extremities at one time. So… priorities are in order 😉
