Do you smoke morphine-cannabis, inject it in your arm, or cook it in a brownie and eat it?

Quote of the Day:

The only way of finding the limits of the possible is by going beyond them into the impossible.

Arthur C. Clarke

  1. Dissent
The funny thing about demanding an equal opportunity to dissenting ideas, is that you only do it with the ideas you personally support, be it that Creationism, Intelligent Design, Hollow-Earth theories, Atlantis, UFOs, Bigfoot, Nessie, or in this case Global Warming.

A good article, specially the part about novel ideas topling down the scientific consensus to create a new paradigm, just like Einstein did with Relativity; but this journalist certainly skips to remember that, until fairly recently the scientific consensus was that there was no Global Warming, then came the “maverick” idea of Anthropogenic Global Warming and, with scientific studies, toppled it to become the current consensus. But this journalist certainly cannot stomach the notion of linking those envirmentalists with Einstein; no, that treatment goes —according to him—to the Global-Warming dissenters. Hmmm…

It would be interesting to know how many media attention the people who opposed Einstein’s ideas had, and how soon they were forgotten after the World fully embraced the concepts of space-time curvatures. A very lucky guy indeed, Darwin certainly never had such appeal among the common people.

And yes, I’m sure many people out there fully embrace the notion of Anthropogenic GW not because of the science, but because it appeals to their own emotional/religious belief system; just as some other folks deny GW for possibly the same reasons and leaving the science aside. The average Joe evaluates science with the gut and not the brain.
