Keep your chin up, Gridkeeper.

Quote of the Day:

The evidence that there are objects which have been seen in our atmosphere, and even on terra firma, that cannot be accounted for either as man-made objects or as any physical force or effect known to our scientists seems to me to be overwhelming … There have been thousands, perhaps tens of thousands, of sightings and encounters, physical results and of the latter, by people all over the world whose evidence on any other subject would be accepted without question.

Lord Hill-Norton, Admiral of the Fleet, former Chief of the Defence Staff, former Chairman of the NATO Military Committee. United Kingdom, 1988.

  1. clothing addiction
I was surprised to see the numbers that an ‘average’ household purchased 40 T shirts a year. I have a total of six people in my household and I never buy that many in a year.

Where DO they get these numbers?

  2. US says it has the right to kidnap British citizens
So it appears that US law has become world law.

Not surprising that this administration want to weaken the UN even more than it is already.

Not that I have much love for the UN, an organization of carpet pulling where countries seek advantages rather than work together for real.

But, who wants any current government on Earth to take over doing what they want when they want while disallowing the equivalent to others?

This will not help their international support abroad and it might isolate them on hostile lands.

Imagine, kidnapping citizens of allied countries with whom you already have extradition deals!

      1. History
People mostly interpret history and interpretations are always favorable to the one doing the interpreting.

There are many that see the time ripe for their ideologies to prevail. In other times, they would have continue waiting for that time to present itself.

Now seems to be the time.

        1. Careful now….
While the knee jerking is fun, the link below offers a slightly more objective view of what happened. Like it or not, it’s State law in Texas that educators must remain nautral on the topic of evolution. You know, because of that “theory” part in the “theory of evolution”.

She apparently has a history of defying State law by attempting to impose her faith over the faith of others. From what I understand of the whole debate, the I.D. people are asking for equal time, or even some time, for their “theory”. It’s the evolution faithful who seem to be more bent on censoring views they don’t agree with. Sure, the debate is taking place within science classes but when all you have is a theory, science class is the best place to present alternative theories.

“according to a dismissal letter last month that accused her of various instances of “misconduct and insubordination” and of siding against creationism and the doctrine that life is the product of “intelligent design.”

          1. Okay, okay
Still, past insurbodination and misconduct did not seem to warrant her dismissal but siding against creationism did. It might not be so surprising that a woman would be a little pissed at the Texan male establishment.

I find it funny that they should remain neutral on that topic in particular, because it becomes an obvious slant to give space to the new comer. Why should I.D. have equal time? Why not the Raelians as well then? Just the fact that it got hijacked (the concept) by new borners should tell us that it will be miss handled.

On the other hand, it is pointless of siding for or against anything where study, in the real sense of the world, is undertaken.

Unfortunately, we don’t study, we learn. So, we are at the mercy of the prevailing ideology. I guess she knows that.

It would really be good if kids were taught to study instead of just learning. That would be dangerous for the system though, people just might become independent enough to never be affected by any PR campaign whatsoever. But that would be bad for politicians and multinationals.

Better keep them learning, someone must keep control, right?

  3. Who is Gates kidding?
Josh Gates should buy a lottery ticket. Others who have gone in search of the yeti were never so lucky. Reinhold Messner dedicated most of his life to the Yeti (see his book My Quest for the Yeti). Yet Josh Gates goes camping with his fancy North Face gear and finds footprints almost immediately?

I don’t trust Gates at all.

I’m surprised no one has traveled to Hubei in China to investigate sightings of the Yeren (witnessed many times in recent years). The remote forests of northwestern Bhutan are also known for bigfoot — the Kingdom of Bhutan declared the whole region a sanctuary for the wild guy! So the Bhutanese (?) certainly believe s/he’s out there…
