Can you handle the truth? Was the pre-Rita Houston evacuation a hint? Is ignorance bliss, or do you have a right to know, whether you can handle it or not?

Thanks Greg.

This story drives me nuts! To me the answer to the problems cited is so simple . . . EDUCATION! The thing I have seen that the fundies do to cause all the problems cited in the article is that they refuse to educate their children about the simple facts of life. They fear that it is immoral to learn about sex, drugs and (and rock and roll, ha!). I have seen it time and time again that those that have had their education about sex and what-not suppressed are those that act out the most. I’ll stop my rant. Shout out to Shadows and Kat . . . I”ve been too busy with the kids to log on lately. Hope all is well down under and state-side!

    1. Hi TA ( Totally Alluring)
      You’re right about education.
I was shocked recently when there was some news item on TV about the Mormons and it was revealed that many Mormon children believe that it is a tenet of their church that the men practise polygamy.
If you have a chat with a fundamentalist Christian who has been raised totally in the faith you are in for a few surprises about their beliefs.

As I was years ago when I hit the real world after being raised in the Catholic Church and with no access to reality.
Many years later I am still suffering from shock.

I am always amazed at the cult leaders who manage to convince the young girls and their parents that the leader can use the girls as sex partners from a very young age.
I understand the children not realising what was going on but I never understand the parents offering their kids for this purpose.

Recently in Oz there have been stories of young men and women having their lives ruined by Church leaders who then turned the Church members against them.
Not only did they lose their youth, but they lost the only thing that had ever been a constant for them for all their lives.

The hypocrisy never ceases to amaze me.I know we are all mere mortals, but why, oh why, is it always those within the Church who practise the most sickening of crimes against the most vulnerable of people.

Nice to talk to you again TA.

      Keep well,

  2. Stephen Hawking
I loved the interview with Stephen Hawking. You have to give him full marks for having the guts to continue with his life when many others would have pulled the plug long ago.
I often wonder if his disability has allowed him to progress into the great thinker he is or whether it has in any way hampered him.

      Hi Shadows,

Hmm, i think mr Hawkings disability has been his unique selling point to the general public, he fits the weird scientist imago that had been build up before by the media. His theories come way second for others beside his peers.
His particular disability gives rise to the idea that he must be compensated by more room to think, thus deeper thoughts.
Well, he may be a genius aswell as a twisted scientist hawking strings.

” do unto others as you would have them do unto you “

      1. I think you’re right Tox
Yes, I have heard it said that no one would listen to some of his theories if not for his disability.
And didn’t he admit that he had time travel wrong?
