Mysteries galore…

Quote of the Day:

O cosmic Birther of all radiance and vibration!
Soften the ground of our being and
carve out a space within us where
Your Presence can abide.
Fill us with your creativity so that we
may be empowered to bear the fruit
of your mission.
Let each of our actions bear fruit in
accordance with our desire.
Endow us with the wisdom to produce
and share what each being needs to grow and flourish.
Untie the tangled threads of destiny that
bind us, as we release others from the
entanglement of past mistakes.
Do not let us be seduced by that which would
divert us from our true purpose, but illuminate
the opportunities of the present moment.
For you are the round and the fruitful vision,
the birth-power and fulfillment,
as all is gathered and made whole once again.

  1. Re the article about the alternative holocaust history
As a person whose grandfather died in a German Concentration Camp, and no he wasn’t a jew, I am still trying to understand what happened to him and what life was like then.

Listening to the official versions of this particular event I have realised that whilst some of the facts are undoubtedly true, there are others which are either misconstrued, misinterpreted, or suppressed.

It has taken years to get any facts as to how my grandfather died. I have only recently discovered what he died of and received a death certificate, something my mother never ever discovered, and as she is now dead (at the grand old age of 79) I felt it was important to right this wrong.

There are many facts that are still uncertain in my mind, but I do know that the idea those in the west had of “nazis” does not always match the truth. Like it or not, many people who joined the Nazi Party were human! Many were frightened souls who in public showed allegiance to this organisation, only to survive, but in private had totally opposing thoughts; other did believe the rhetoric they were told about the Nazi Party and its aims – just as people believe the official version of the holocaust today yet have no actual living factual evidence as to what really happened then.

I am not saying that many of the Nazi Hierarchy were saints, far from it, but some of the people did just follow orders, and we have seen people in recent times tried in military courts for “believing the orders they had been given were unjust and so refused to follow them!” Either a person follows orders or they don’t. A good soldier does follow orders and many of the Nazis were soldiers.

I wish people would view this whole issue with a bit more consideration, and wider thought.

I would add that there have been several experiments where people who were told that some prisoners were to be given electric shocks as a punishment, and that these experimenters were going to be ordered to increase the voltage continually. Whilst a few did object and refuse after a certain amount of time, many others followed through and delivered the “killer blow” even though they didn’t like doing so. They followed orders! It wasn’t until after the experiment that the experimenters learned that the victims were only pretending to be electrocuted. It goes to show that it is human nature to do things you may not usually do, and I believe that for some of the Nazis at least it was a case of doing what these people in the experiments did.

Yes, there were some, especially in the hierarchy, who took pleasure in seeing people suffer. I don’t deny that, but I think we have to be careful, especially in hindsight, about the “official truth” of the holocaust. Today, Israel is itself doing a holocaust in Palestine. I don’t deny that in recent times Hamas have been having suicide bombers, and have been doing so for some time, but the response Israel has given appears to be like using a sledgehammer to fit a nut – excessive! But then, I may be totally wrong as I admit I don’t know all the facts, and neither does anyone else who has not lived, or experienced life on both sides of the fence!

When it comes to the stories of life in the camps I accept they were harsh, brutal, and painful, with many dying, including my grandfather, but these stories are told by survivors, they did not die, they were “lucky” if that is the word and came out of the camps alive. They saw many go into large chambers and not come out again, but were they gassed, or executed, or scrubbed with a type of “disinfectant” with fumes that were overpowering and possibly denying the people inside vital oxygen? I don’t know the answer, and neither do the people who survived the camps. Rumours are often rife, and any truth can be distorted, misconstrued.

I admire anyone who survived these horrible times, and I can understand how they feel about the past, as I am also still haunted by my past. Yet, there is much more to this whole story, and whilst I am remembering the pain and death that occurred in these camps, I am also thinking of the deaths that have occurred since then, and still are, because some people in authority in various places in the world have so little consideration or care for the ordinary person in this world, the rest of the human race!! Perhaps we should remember not only those who died in the camps but those who have died for false ideals and purposes. We are ALL human beings! Unfortunately, human beings can do horrible things to each other.

    1. Personally…
I don’t see what’s the problem with presenting certain human aspects of the Nazis and the people who run the camps. IMO if anything, it only makes them more monstrous by portraying them as REAL men or women who actually lived and committed these crimes… for whatever personal or impersonal reason. These were people who kissed their spouses, played with their children, and then went to work to a place where people were turned into soap with a chilling industrial efficiency.

What’s the alternative? To show them in the movies as inhuman? That would only make moviegoers view the Nazis as fictional monsters not unlike Count Dracula or Darth Sidious, hence turning people into doubting if the Holocaust really happened at all.

      1. the scary part
the scary part is that perfectly normal people can be very cruel. And it gets worse, in that this is not very unusual.

But still, Carol’s point remains – what the Nazis did was as horrible as anything that has been done.

And still, I am with Carol – it was not the first time, and it has happened at the same time (Russia), it has happened since then (Cambodia was worse in some sense).

Israel and Gaza and Palestine is a small issue compared to those things.

I feel sad tonight, for completely unrelated reasons. But for reasons of observing history, there may be another case where it gets even worse. I go to sleep soon, with the hope that I am wrong.

I think I like this version better. Thanks! 🙂

  3. Ignorant barbarian northerners like the Vikings
I find it interesting that the “Ignorant barbarian northerners like the Vikings” went fighting and stealing and conquering all the way to Afghanistan or India,

and only afterwards they acquired the technology to do that.

Me thinks there is a cultural bias here, perhaps.

  4. What has been moving rocks on Mars?
Can’t wait for Richard Hoagland’s breakthrough space website to run with this – and others as well. It’s a big industry this! : /

    Cheers
