News Briefs 30-06-2016

I’ll be brief. Hehe, get it? Brief? ‘Cause they’re news briefs. Get me, I’m a reg’lar comedian here!

Thanks to viewers like you.

“Every day’s a gift. It’s just… does it have to be a pair of socks?”
– Tony Soprano

  1. Growing meat
I like the idea, however we already have a surplus of cattle around the world. We would still have to care for them and not let all that meat go to waste. In other words, we would have to ween the world off meat. I sadly don’t believe this will solve world hunger. Anyone who has taken a social sciences course learned that it’s not the lack of food that’s a problem. There is plenty of food, but the governments won’t let it get through. A petri dish sized example of this happened in Haiti after the earthquake. Aid was coming in from around the world, but their leader wouldn’t let it come in. His people live in shacks while he sits in a mansion. You don’t need a Saturday morning cartoon to tell you that’s messed up. I don’t think this lab grown meat is a quick fix and certainly will be shot down by many people. It’s another fluoride in the water issue. I don’t want to see this meat become another conspiracy theory or veggie burger (a tasteless version of real meat).

  2. Latent Landscapes
I don’t understand why a contemporary paranormal researcher theorizing about “latent landscapes” would dust off some old story from the 1930’s when there are much juicier and more fleshed out potential examples in the present. I mean, c’mon – The Dead Files show contains all the cited elements of the theory in much higher relief and detail.

    1. Recycle
Well, there is a time-honored tradition of re-writing, say, Donnelly’s 1882 Atlantis: The Antediluvian World or 1883 Ragnarok: The Age of Fire and Gravel for the umpteenth time.

  3. Predictions
I guess Baba didn’t have any knowledge about the end of world stupidity. Oh well, keep the GMO bread and multi-millionaire football matches coming then.
