“In the beginning the Universe was created… This has made a lot of people very angry and has been widely regarded as a bad move.”

Huge thanks to RPJ and Greg for their clutch assistance!

Quote of the Day:

“Space is big. You just won’t believe how vastly, hugely, mind-bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it’s a long way down the road to the drug store, but that’s just peanuts to space.”

Douglas Adams

  1. Co Co leaves
They talk without a grain of commonsense, Coca will have been used from the first time there effects where discovered, maybe a million years or more.
They always try to make out ancient peoples where stupid, I would like to see a few archaeologists, anthropologists survive back then.

Does anybody have any updates on the lady who found evidence of Coca use in Egyptian Mummy’s and was promptly made to look a fool by the “Skeptics” Establishment.

  2. Skeptical Believers
Are these guys not watching some of the better “ghost buster” shows on the telly these days? There is some stunnning stuff showing up on cameras. Goofy as some of these shows may be most of the time they are gettihg some hellaciously good images and doing real science. Anyone who claims to be interested in this stuff these days has to watch “Ghost Aventures” for instance with the airheaded “Zak” and his simple cohorts. They are so irritating that they elicit the best responses from the other side. There is nothing quite like uttering “dude!” every other sentence to piss off a ghost and get it to come out and play. LOL!

These “best of” clips on this Youtube are not really the best of in my opinion, but there are other youtube clips of various phenomenon from the show. Watching entire shows on the telly is the best way to get a feel for how these guys do it. Just about every show has at least one startling thing in it. The EVP stuff these busters get is really outstanding too.
There is something about these guys that brings the haints out. They have good chemistry and their adolescent energy really works to their advantage.
The other really good show is “The Haunted” on the TV station “Animal Planet.” Focusing on the reactions of pets to spirit hauntings rules out very convincingly any possibility of fakery. These shows really are groundbreaking. They must be giving the fundamentalist skeptics fits because the camera and audio captured phenomena are outstanding. I can imagine that “Randi” et al find ways to make excuses for what these show capture, but I’ll bet you anything these guys are flummoxed by these shows in their heart of hearts.

    1. haunted house chills
Some 15 years ago my family and I were visiting our uncles in Ocotlán, a little town (well, not that little anymore) in Jalisco.

One day after lunch one my little cousins (he was 8 or something) grabbed my arm and said “come on! let’s go to ‘el fuerte'”. El Fuerte was this abandoned building nearby that was the property of another one of my family members; it was going to be a huge hotel that for some reason or another never got completed, and now was in an awful state of disrepair and decay.

Unlike those dudes in the video we weren’t looking for ghosts, though. My little cousins wanted to go hunt bats.

Nevertheless I knew what this was all about: the same reason why hundreds of teenagers around the world go into cemeteries or “haunted houses” —not because they are seriously interested in paranormal events, but because they want to have the chance to spook their buddies and make fun of them. Here too my little country cousins wanted to test the courage from their big cousin from the big city.

These “reality shows” that proliferate all over the American networks are just another way to have that “haunted house” chills, without the need to leave the living room.

PS: And in case you’re wondering how my bat-hunting adventure ended, I’m proud to announce that I did an outstanding job in trying to keep my cool, and not pissing my pants or cry like a girl whenever one of those damn flying rats came rushing down my hair —Bruce Wayne would have been so proud of me 😉

  3. Last night Animal Planet ran
Last night Animal Planet ran a really outstanding show about a house haunted by a little boy. Turns out the child had drowned in the pond behind the house in the 19th century, and his grave marker had been lost in the ensuing years of different ownership. They finally pieced it all together by looking at historical records for the community. They then look at old survey maps and noticed an “X” on the the early one. The X was a way to denote graves. They then figured out that the X corresponded to an old oak tree near the pond and had a reburial ceremony and even had a plaque made commemorating “Georgie’s” death. The hauntings ceased after that.
Strangely enough one of the cats in the current household had been got from the Animal Shelter and the little boy currently living in the house who has also been “playing” with the ghost child had named the cat “Georgie.” This was all before any of the sluething had been performed by the investigators. Really outstanding show. I wouldn’t be surprised is Animal Planet gets noiminated for an Emmy with this series.
