Red Pill or Blue Pill?

Not sure where I came across this one (apart from the memebase.com tagline) – but pretty darn good! Wonder what percentage it works for? And does it mean you took the red pill or the blue pill?

    1. Trick Question
It got me. I had to look again to see the misplaced letter. Just shows how much you can trust your eyesight. I have been reading a lot lately about this stuff and it is just amazing how much you leave to your sub-(super?)conscious mind. There is also the theory that if the letters inside the word are jumbled, as long as the first and last are correct and the number of letters is correct, you can understand it.

When I get my tDCS unit built I will see if I can improve on that!

    2. The eyes have it
[quote=red pill junkie]Is that supposed to be a trick question??

Most people read in chunks or sentences, and so they (and it got me too) will just read the top line as a correct sentence, rather than noticing the swapped words. May not be as effective with those reading it as a second language, because I’d imagine you pay more attention to the details?

Though as an editor though who normally picks the tiniest things up, I was surprised how easily it got me.

A nice poetic use of Morpheus to illustrate the ways in which we ‘augment’ reality all the time.

      1. Nobody gets me 🙁
What I meant is that asking me whether I’ve taken the red pill or the blue pill is almost insulting 😛

It did get me actually. It’s obvious that our brains are hardwired to focus more on the main content of a message that in the minutae of the elements composing it, and the faster the better. I guess we’re all still expecting that lion chasing after us behind our desk chairs 😉

Have you ever noticed if you do that with other things, like images or people’s faces?

I totally do that. Unless I actively pay attention, when I see someone they are immediately categorized as ‘human being’ and ‘human face’ with ‘requisite # of facial features’ so it is kinda like I’m not SEEING but filling in things with my MEMORY

It is only when I concentrate and actively watch that these blurs fill in the details like eye colour, texture of skin, etc etc etc

        1. We all do that
That’s the basis of caricature, and why we can understand emoticons 😉

That’s also the basis of racism, but that’s for another discussion…

Nice to see that I’m not alone in that :3

            bonus, just for you

    1. It got me – for a second –
It got me – for a second – and I am proud of it. It just demonstrates that my mind can assemble a group of facts with the most logical interpretation even if there are errors in some of the facts.
