Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skulls?

The title for the upcoming Indiana Jones sequel was revealed earlier in the week as “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull“. Serious TDGers into their ‘hidden history’ will be familiar with the real-life controversy over the discovery (and alleged powers) of crystal skulls, perhaps the most famous of which is the Mitchell-Hedges skull (I reported earlier this year the death of Anna Mitchell-Hedges, aged 100). It will be interesting to see how much of this mythos is incorporated into the new movie, or if the crystal skull just makes for a good prop.

Update: No sooner had I posted this, when I came across this article at MTV which features Harvard lecturer Dr Marc Zender doing his best to expand on the crystal skull mythos while looking down his nose at the topic.

  1. John Hurt
John Hurt is playing F.A. Mitchell-Hedges. It’s not official, but trust me. 😉

Cate Blanchett may play his daughter, Anna Mitchell-Hedges, I haven’t confirmed that yet. But wow, what a cast — Ray Winstone as Indy’s stiff-upper-lip British sidekick (and possibly his retirement home nurse), Jim Broadbent taking over the late Denholm Elliot’s role as Marcus Brody, and …**drumroll**… Karen Allen is back as Marion Ravenswood (and she looks fantastic — all natural, no botox or plastic surgery, she runs Yoga classes these days). Who needs Sean Connery with a cast like that! Young Shia LaBeouf reminds me of Harrison Ford at his age too (especially his profile, the same nose), they picked the right actor to play Indy Junior Junior.

The official Indiana Jones Website has video of the cast and crew at work — and Ford still looks the part, despite an obvious grandpa-paunch. I gotta say, I like the older, grumpier Indy. Ford insisted that the script show his age too, so expect a lot of age jokes at Ford’s expense.

And look at the grins on Spielberg, Lucas and Ford’s faces — they all look young and full of energy again. That’s a good sign.

    Yes, I’m excited. 😀

    1. All right!
I’m SO wanting to see this flick!!!!

It’s not the depth of the rabbit hole that bugs me…
It’s all the rabbit SH*T you stumble over on your way down!!!
