Last month I shared with our readers a peculiar anecdote related by Michael P. Masters during his interview on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast. It revolved around a strange encounter with ‘Eric’: someone who—to Masters’s amazement—was aware of the anthropologist’s deepest thoughts and his desire to walk out of his newly-found celebrity inside the UFO subculture. The meeting caused such an impression in Masters, he became convinced this seemingly enigmatic individual was acting as a ‘conduit’ or emissary of what he calls ‘extra-tempestrial’ entities (i.e. humans from the future).
UFO researcher and author Mike Clelland read my article, and he was able to provide some crucial piece of information that allowed me to better understand what really happened that night to Masters on that hotel balcony during a UFO conference.
Mike—who has a very good pulse on the UFO close encounter community— was able to deduce Eric’s full identity is that of Eric Mitchell. He along with his partner Heidi Gadd are experiencers who have made appearances on a number of podcasts, and they used to have a YouTube channel that was apparently taken down recently.
On the Podcast UFO show last year, Eric and Heidi shared some of their ‘origin’ story; which for Eric it involved a close encounter event that allegedly triggered in him what is referred to in psychology as savant syndrome—by which people with normal IQ levels are suddenly able to perform incredible mental feats, like complex math solving or playing a musical instrument to virtuoso levels.
By the end of that interview Eric and Heidi did confirm their running-in with Mike Masters during that UFO conference (as you might have guessed, Heidi is the woman who invited Masters to meet ‘her friend’ that night). They also released a short book through Amazon titled ‘The Balcony Experience: The Night We Shared a Telepathic Anomalous Experience with Dr. Masters’, in which I assume they go into greater lengths to explain the ‘connection’ Eric managed to achieve with Mike, which the latter found so emotional and psychologically transformative.
The podcast interview previously linked gives the impression that Eric went into some sort of ‘channeling’ trance while he was sitting with Masters on that balcony. Beyond the small preview snippets one can go through the Amazon store, I haven’t read their book yet, and although I’m somewhat skeptical of Mitchell’s ‘savant’ claims (on the very first page they misspelled Michael Master’s first name(!) which may just be a consequence of not having proof-read the manuscript, but still…) I don’t have reasons to believe they’re not giving an honest account of that experience from their point of view.
Whether Masters has read the book and agrees with their conclusions or not, I cannot say.
