Sunday Funnies: Bigfooter VS Woo-Squatcher

After the first “UAP Bro VS UFO Dude” I drew last week, someone on Instagram suggested I should do one about Cryptozoology next.

I replied that I would try… even though I couldn’t think of anything at the time.

But after a while I thought it would be fun to make a lighthearted commentary about the different ideologies found among people who believe in the existence of Bigfoot: how the large majority think it is an undiscovered, flesh-and-blood primate; whereas a small minority hold a more ‘new age-y’ belief system, in which Bigfoot is endowed with magical powers, and can even communicate telepathically with humans—think “Harry & the Hendersons” meets “ET the Extraterrestrial.”

Once again, I don’t feel myself particularly identified with any of those polarizing camps; although all these decades of waiting for someone somewhere to finally produce a Bigfoot body, leaves me to suspect there’s something going on with the sightings of these giant hairy beings that go beyond a new biological species waiting to be discovered—my friend and colleague Joshua Cutchin co-wrote two books with Tim Renner exploring these fringier ideas, but I’m sure they don’t think the answer to this cryptozoological mystery is to be found in the foothills of Mount Shasta…

I ended up solving this conundrum for myself by treating Bigfoot as my personal ‘Schödringer’s cryptid’: until the big guy is taken out of the forest, he can BOTH be a flesh-and-blood creature *and* a metaphysical entity.

PS: I wouldn’t want to shoot or f%$k Bigfoot either… unless R. Crumb’s artwork is accurate 😉
