It’ll be hard to follow-up on Greg’s brilliant interview with Michio Kaku. Ganbarimasu!

Many thanks to Greg and Kat.

Quote of the Day:

People – especially people in positions of power – have invested a tremendous amount of effort and time to get to where they are. They really don’t want to hear that we’re on the wrong path, that we’ve got to shift gears and start thinking differently.

  1. Nobel prize winners
If you read Greg’s interview with Michio Kaku, you’ll remember there’s an ongoing bet between him and a science journalist, who claims that by 2020 there will still be no Nobel prize given to anyone for work related to string theory.

Well, it’s interesting to note that Yoichiro Nambo happens to be one of the fathers of String theory. Granted, the prize was won for something else; but I think Kaku’s odds have just improved :0)

  2. Underwater Mexican cave
Put on your snorkel and flippers, RPJ.
LOL. You just reminded me of that one time when I was snorkeling in Cozumel, I was enjoying the underwater view when I turned my head and suddenly I was standing face to face with a barracuda! Now it might have been shorter than I originally thought, but at the time I decided it was time to get out of the water—and by ‘getting out’ I mean defying the laws of physics and run over water instead of swimming 😉

  3. Robot Hookers of Japan
They are going to have to do better than that servant girl. I hope the unit does more than what could be seen in the demo. Is it me, or does she look a little slow? Not much mouth movement when speaking and the eyelids really aren’t lifelike. Probably would be better off with a monkey from the previous news item.

    1. LOL
I don’t know about the *ehem* adult recreational market, but if these guys expect people to interact with robots, they might instead try to make them…well, more like robots instead of creepy zombies. I think a senior lady would rather have a loyal R2/D2-like bot than something that resembles her dead sister 🙂

The “Uncanny Valley” needs more than this to be conquered.

        LOL

Robogirl is Westworld with a daycare centre. The disturbing thing is, I see real people who look like robozombies every day. 😉

The ghost of Osamu Tezuka is shaking his head in disappointment.

  4. No “Global Warming”. Not “man-made”. Period.
Really- I absolutely love your site. It’s amazing, and everyone who contributes is wonderful…

    BUT(and there’s always a “butt”, innit?)…

There’s really no such thing as “global warming”, and the climactic changes occuring on Planet Earth now can’t *possibly* be human-induced, unless we’re polluting Venus, Mars, Neptune, Jupiter, Saturn et al.

If you think i’m wrong, just look up “Not By Fire But By Ice”. It isn’t my site, but it *does* make things a little more clear. Only the Sun or celestial forces can impact an entire solar system, eh?

Humanity can be so gullible…and arrogant….

OK. My two cents are presented. Still love the site. Keep up the great work…

    1. link?
Hi! Thanks for the compliment 🙂

Could you provide a link to the site you mention?

    2. Many would agree
I’m sure that many would agree with you regards so-called global warming – but – what a wonderful excuse for those who want to screw money out of gullible people for ‘green’ products (and others who don’t have the opportunity to disagree).

      1. My problem with GW
My problem with GW is that many people think it’s at the centre of environmentalism. It’s not.

I also hate how many GW skeptics seem to think it’s business as usual because we may not be causing GW. We are killing off plant and animal species, destroying entire ecosystems that will never recover, and poisoning ourselves with industrial and domestic pollution — but this is okay because we’re not causing GW?!

Industrial consumerism may not be causing GW, but the irony is it’s still killing us.

Yes twodogknight, humanity can be gullible and arrogant — but we’re mostly just plain stupid.

        1. Rick, I agree
Totally agree with your comments regarding mankind’s environmental vandalism and loss of animal species also air, earth and water pollution, excess waste products, built-in obsolescence etc. etc. We need to stop doing this.

Unfortunately, these things have become intertwined with the concept of global warming.

I don’t think man as a species is the cause of global warming, but I do think man as a species should be cleaning up it’s act regarding the points in paragraph 1.

          Regards, Kathrinn
