Today I bring you the "Clavi-Viola"(harp-viola), the instrument designed 500 years ago by Leonardo Da Vinci.

Oggi vi porto la "Clavi-Viola", lo strumento progettato 500 anni fa da Leonardo Da Vinci.

After a work of 1 year the luthier Marco Minnozzi, also thanks at the cooperation with "Leonardo3", have recontructed an original musical instrument designed by Leonardo.
This instrument is a mix between the harpsichord and the viola and it have the particularity that it can be worn by a sling; like the harpsichord it have the keyboard, but the keys moves the strings that rubs on a horsehair like the viola.

Dopo 1 anno di lavoro il liutaio Marco Minnozzi, grazie anche alla collaborazione con "Leonardo3", ha ricostruito un originale strumento musicale progettato da Leonardo .
Lo strumento è un mix tra clavicembalo e viola ed ha la particolarità che si può indossare tramite un’imbragature; come il clavicembalo ha una tastiera, ma i tasti muovono le corde che sfregano contro un crine come la viola.

Those notebooks are just chock full of wonders. The Clavi-Viola is an interesting exercise in musical instruments. I am struck by how much it reminds me of the modern keyboard in terms of operation. I wouldn't like to try to carry it in harness, though. I'll stick with my traditional viola.
