Angelo Invernizzi, was baker of Marcellise’s son.
In the beginning of ‘900 Angelo studies engineering in Genova and Padova and will become crazy for the cement.
He made 1000 projects and palaces.
He worked to the railway.
Returned to Genova and made the “Skyscracker of the clock ”, as Genoese the call it.
It was the first skyscracker of Italy, but when it was finished, Angelo noticed that he was not a simple builder: he was a Dreamer.
A dreamer provided of technique, matematics and genius.
Between his friends there was artists and poets that belonged to the “Futurism”, and exalted to the steel, vapour, and machines. Angelo started to combining all that ideas: cement, machines, motors…And sunflowers.
Thinking to the sunflower, the flower that points itself toward Sun rays, Angelo made this house, unique in the world: a house capable to turn on itself.
A house that concludes a whole circle of 360° between the hills of his village.
So “Villa Girasole” born.
It is big.
Out no brick and no plaster.
It have 2 flats with form of L, rested on a circular plinth.
2 flats and a little tower.
The tower is a sort of lighthouse, of giant sundial, of modern dolmen made by cement and aluminium.
Inside is dark.
Is fresh almost cold even if there is the sunshine.
A long corridor with a floor made of mosaics drives to the heart of the house.
It is a room perfectly circular where starts a spiral staircase.
In the centre of the spiral staircase there is a metal cage of a lift with little wood shutter.
To go down there is a metal trap door alike the submarine: it driver to the machines room.
In that room there are the control.
A joystick to start the house and to stop it.
A button to decide the side of the revolution.
Where the 2 floor with form of L joins themselves, there is a big metal pivot, high 42 metres and 35 centimetres: the motor makes turn this pivot and the pivot imparts the movement to all the house that slowly starts it revolution.
The floor with form of L rests on trolley and rails.
The house is “suspended” on the wheel: knowing very well the laws of weight and loaded, Angelo have built using very light material called Eraclit, a mix of wood, chipboard and cement.
There is only 1 component that sinks into the round it is the central pivot:
there are not pipes for water or eletrical cables, or drainages.
Angelo seated in balcony and started the underground motor:
all the house starter to turn 4 millimetres at second, 9 hours and 20 minutes to conclude 1 whole revolution.
