The April 17 really seems a special day:
somebody thinks that it is the true day of the Jesus birthday,
the past year in this same day fell Lord Rama’s birthday, this year this day is connected to the feast of “Monday of the Angel” that in Italy is called “Pasquetta” = Little Easter.
Today is the birthday of Tool’s singer, too.
But, before all, over all, today is the birthday of my mascotte:
Marcellino Gattino Carino (Marcellino = Little Marcellus is his name, Gattino Carino = Little pretty cat his surname), my cat that today celebrate his third birthday.

- The cat most old of the world

Tha cat made a bow and and went away. The second cat was a big tabby cat, great thinker. He fought against the mouse using his psychic force, but the mouse won again. The third was a female grey cat, used to faith against the shadow. Also her was very able, but the mouse won. As fourth was called a old cat by now tired and with his broken tail. The cat arrived to man’s home and decided to rest, ignored the mouse. The rodent was cocky, he feel himself always the winner, lost every precaution, because he don’t feared an old and battered cat. But a day, while he draged a big share of food pinched to the man, the mouse came up very much to the cat, and asked him to help to transport the stolen goods. - The winged cat

This legend narrates that Mohammed had a cat that loved very much.

- Il gatto più vecchio del mondo
Si chiamava Puss, era americano ed è morto il 29 novembre 1939. Il giorno prima aveva compiuto la bella età di 36 anni.

- La nascita del gatto
Durante il Diluvio Universale sull'Arca si verificò un problema: i topi, imbarcati assieme agli altri animali, si riproducevano velocissimi e voraci, rischiando di consumare tutte le provviste destinate anche agli altri viaggiatori. Non sapendo più che fare, Noé chiese aiuto al Signore. Subito il leone starnutì, e dal suo starnuto nacquero due gatti che riportarono il numero dei topi a un giusto livello.

- Il gatto fantasma di Novara
E' accaduto il 20 settembre 1970, tra Miasino, Vacciago e Orta, in provincia di Novara. Alcuni passanti hanno visto un gatto bianco semitrasparente correre rapidissimo e infilarsi nel muro di un'abitazione. Il muro è stato subito ispezionato, ma non sono stati trovati nè gatti nè passaggi.

- Il Gatto portafortuna
Il japanese bobtail, come dice il nome stesso, è un bel micione dalla coda corta a ponpon originario del Giappone. Nella sua patria d'origine viene considerato portafortuna ed appare, oltre che in carne, ossa e pelliccia, raffigurato sotto forma di statue e dipinti nei templi buddhisti e shintoisti.
Nell'iconografia tradizionale è rappresentato come un tricolore cicciottello e con una zampetta alzata, come se stesse salutando o giocando con qualcosa: quest'immagine si chiama mi-ke, o maneki-neko, ed appare in innumerevoli talismani e soprammobili.
C'è un'antica leggenda zen che riguarda questo micio. Una volta c'era un uomo, maestro d'arti marziali, che aveva un problema: un topo si era sistemato in casa sua e gli vuotava continuamente la dispensa. L'uomo conosceva alcuni gatti e decise di chiedere il loro aiuto. Il primo era un gatto nero, esperto di lotta. Entrò in casa, fece mille evoluzioni, ma il topo vinse. Il gatto si inchinò e andò via. Il secondo era un micione tigrato, grande pensatore. Lottò contro il topo usando la sua forza psichica, ma anche lui ne uscì sconfitto. Il terzo era una micia grigia, abituata a combattere contro le ombre. Anche lei fu molto abile, però non ebbe fortuna migliore. Per quarto venne chimato un vecchio gatto ormai stanco e con la coda mozza. Il micio entrò in casa dell'uomo e si acciambellò per riposare, ignorando il topo. Il roditore ormai era spavaldo, sentendosi sempre vincitore. Perse ogni precauzione, non si curava neppure più di nascondersi, e certamente non temeva un gatto anziano e malandato. Ma un giorno, mentre trascinava una grossa porzione di cibo rubato all'uomo, il topo si avvicinò moltissimo al gatto, e gli chiese perfino aiuto per trasportare la refurtiva. Rapidissimo, il gatto afferrò il topo e lo sconfisse.

- Il gatto alato
Un avvistamento di gatto alato è avuto nel 2004, in Russia. In quel caso il micio è stato decisamente sfortunato perché, considerato subito un inviato del diavolo, è stato ucciso e gettato nel fiume da un contadino ubriaco.
Ma esistono spiegazioni razionali per questo fenomeno, di cui una veramente banale. Si ipotizza, per esempio, che possa semplicemente trattarsi di nodi nel pelo in gatti randagi a pelo lungo, oppure potrebbe trattarsi di una malattia della pelle chiamata Astenia Cutanea Felina (ma ne esiste anche una versione umana), si tratta di una malattia genetica molto rara che rende la pelle sulla schiena dei gatti molto fragile ed elastica. Questa tendendosi crea dei lembi che potrebbero sembrare ali.

- Il Gatto Siamese
Il gatto siamese (quello che ora viene chiamato Thai), ha origini misteriose. E' certamente una razza orientale, ma non è detto che sia davvero originario della Thailandia (anticamente detta Siam). Quel che si sa è che comparve sulla scena Europea nel 1884, quando il re Chulalongkorn regalò al console inglese di Bangkok una coppia di siamesi “seal point”: Pho e Mia.
Secondo alcune fonti i membri della famiglia reale siamese dopo la morte si reincarnavano nel loro gatto. Il gatto veniva inumato con il defunto, ma nella tomba venivano praticate delle uscite che gli permettevano di fuggire portando con sé l'anima del morto. Il gatto veniva quindi riaccolto a corte e trattato con rispetto, come una persona di famiglia.
Un'altra leggenda spiega il perché del caratteristico nodo che spesso i siamesi hanno sulla coda. Un giorno una coppia di giovani mici si recò nel bosco per cercare un calice che era stato trafugato a corte. Lo trovarono, ma era troppo pesante per trasportarlo. Così decisero di dividersi: la femmina sarebbe rimasta di guardia mentre il maschio avrebbe cercato aiuto.
Ma la micia era incinta e stava per partorire, così, per non perdere il calice durante il travaglio, se lo legò alla coda. Quando il maschio tornò, quattro giorni dopo, trovò la gatta che allattava i micini con il calice accanto; ma quando andò a sciogliere la coda vide che vi era rimasto un nodo.

- Matagot
Secondo una leggenda anticamente diffusa in Francia e in Inghilterra, il Matagot è un gatto randagio, portafortuna e in cerca di padrone. Per propiziarselo bisogna offrirgli del pollo arrosto e poi accoglierlo in casa. La prima sera che il Matagot passa in casa deve ricevere cibo proveniente dallo stesso piatto del padrone. Per ricompensarlo il Matagot donerà all'umano delle monete d'oro e molta fortuna.

- Maine Coon
Secondo la leggenda, nel XVIII° secolo i capitani delle navi che viaggiavano tra Ankara in Turchia e le coste del New England portarono con sé molti gatti persiani, che avrebbero dovuto far compagnia alle loro mogli.Ma i gatti fuggirono nei boschi circostanti e si accoppiarono con i procioni locali, dando così origine alla nuova razza.

- Il gatto di Maometto
Questa leggenda racconta che Maometto aveva un gatto al quale era molto affezionato. Questo gatto si chiamava Muezza, e godeva di un singolare privilegio: poteva dormire sulle maniche del Profeta. Un giorno Maometto dovette allontanarsi proprio mentre Muezza riposava e lui, pur di non disturbare il micio, si fece tagliare la manica della veste. Al suo ritorno in segno di riconoscenza Muezza si inchinò al padrone e Maometto lo accarezzò per tre volte sul dorso, donando così al gatto la capacità di atterrare sempre sulle zampe. Ma la storia non finisce qui, perché secondo un altra leggenda fu sempre un gatto a salvare Maometto dal morso di un serpente velenoso.

- I gatti di Freya
Secondo la mitologia nordica la dea Freya viaggiava su un carro trainato da gatti volanti. Sempre stando alla leggenda, chiunque trattasse bene i gatti si meritava automaticamente la benevolenza della dea.

- Il gatto col violino
C'è una vecchia filastrocca per bambini che parla di un gatto col violino, di una mucca che salta sulla luna, di un cane che ride nel vederli e di un piatto che fugge via col cucchiaio.
Sembra un raccontino senza senso, inventato per far divertire i più piccini, in realtà si ispira a una figura assai più antica: quella del gatto col violino, ricorrente da millenni in fiabe e racconti, che, come tante altre storie che riguardano i gatti, risale all'antico Egitto, quando il gatto veniva raffigurato con il sistro
