Thank-you very much! I am familiar with the Roman port of Ostia. Is Ostialido another name for Ostia or are they two separate places?

Ostia Lido and Ostia Antica are not the same things but 2 different places.
Ostia Lido is a town on the sea, with big pine forest, born from the Mussolini’s reclamation of this land (before the reclamation these lands was marsh); it has been a vacation or week end location for many years for Roman people.
In the 70s it have had a bad decay and to say to live in Ostia it was not a good visiting card…The top of this “bad reputation” has been touched with Pier Paolo Pasolini’s murder that happened in the “Idroscalo”, that it is near-almost-inside Ostia Lido. But since some years it is returned a nice place where to live or spend time, even if there is not a beautiful beautiful sea, I adore the sea so always I take profit to live here.
Ostia Antica – Ancient Ostia – Ancient port of Ostia, is a little town in the hinterland some few kilometres from Ostia Lido, in that town there are the Ancient Ostia excavations and the Castle.
That castle is also famous because the U2 have made their video…I don’t remember the name of the song…In the video there is a Circus on the beach (Ostia – Castel Fusano) and the Castle (Ostia Antica).
