“Look with favor upon a bold beginning.”

Quote of the Day:

“Blessed is he who has been able to win knowledge of the causes of things.”

Virgil

      1. What if the “last episode”
What if the “last episode” of Mythbusters turns out to be a myth itself? There would be yet another season, and another, and another… until finally there were no more unsolved myths in the universe, and then they would have to approach the idea of there being another universe with its own set of myths. That’s a lot of popcorn. That’s more popcorn than there are atoms in the known universe!

Or – the “last episode myth” plays out inversely and there is no episode period – just a silent, inky black TV screen for an hour straight which then initiates a whole new myth – that a TV can go for an hour straight without commercials.

        1. Not the last
Holy shit you are right! No lie I just saw a commercial, there is going to be a “lost episode” about duct tape on the Science Channel at 8pm EST on Sunday at 8pm that is not going to be screened on Discovery. Heads up for those of you who watch!

  1. Thank you, Scientists
“We’ve taken a major step back in time, beyond what we’d ever expected to be able to do with Hubble,” Yale University astronomer Pascal Oesch said in a statement.’

Finally, a little respect from the scientific community for those of us stuck in the past.

  2. Missing Europeans…….
Interesting ideas, but I think that her postulating that climate change was the cause needs some nuancing, some “yeah,…….but”

It could also be that a prolonged period of survival in a colder climate, with fewer nutrional options, weakened the immune systems of the “M” population. When the climate warmed and other populations began to infiltrate their lands, the “M” group was exposed to new diseases which they were incapable of fending off. Thus they died out. Perhaps some survivors/groups followed the ice sheets along the northern route, migrating to North America. That climate, along that route, would still be one they were used to.

Fascinating stuff. Perhaps they were the peoples we refer toas “Solutreans”. The timeline would certainly fit.
