i'm fortunate enough to be able to spend some time house-sitting for my mom's house -- there is an aspect of lonliness and melancholy to the place -- she's Dutch so was fastidious so the place and grounds are missing her ministrations -- she would ask me to pick up the pine cones for her on the lawn even when she was well.
so i've been listening to a local radio station and whomever thought up the recent ads are INSANE and MANIPULATIVE -- my Canadian patriotism is being activated by the constant barrage of 'BLACK FRIDAY' (my wife is an Episcopalian so whenever she hears that phrase she has a mental disconnect because she is thinking of GOOD FRIDAY, which is kinda crazy in-and-of-itself) adverts. The Canadian biggest shopping day is Boxing Day...
Silly and manipulative advertizers...now I know how my wife feels at all the advertising in Merryca...and that is relatively recent, since 2001...
Ach...
Here is something nifty that I just came across: a game where it begins at the credits and goes on from there http://jayisgames.com/games/thanks-for-p...
Meanwhile, in the waybackmachine, it's 1956 again

One wonders whatever happened to that lovely lady, especially when the wild 60s were just around the corner...

Wow dude, I am actually a little jealous of your "loneliness" forgive me if that bothers anyone but my house is packed full of the ornery and un-sewn (let's call it an asylum, that's a safe word). A family full of absolutely crazy relatives whom I love but really can't stand to be around :P
As for the Black Friday ads, it's funny how we in the states just got over the mounds of unnavigable muck that was political ads, only to spill right into the holiday ads. more gravy please :P

Another one of the 'brilliant' ideas of our soon-to-be-departed President, is the import and 'tropicalization' of the American Black Friday. They call it down here 'El Buen Fin' --the good (week)end-- and it was 'celebrated' last weekend.
I would like to criticize my fellow compatriots' crass consumerism, but I would be a bloody hypocrite. Truth be told, I went out and bought me a replacement for my Xbox console, which was valiantly KIA early this year :-/
The only thing I can say in my defense is that I paid for it in full. I didn't go for any of that 'deferred payment' BS. I hate increasing my debts.

I don't see you as a hypocrite RPJ, it's ok to take advantage of a good sale. As long as we have the cash for it (which i don't) :P

It wasn't much of a good sale. I think in the end I saved around 100 bucks. But I ain't complaining because I really did miss playing --my readers on the other hand, well... ;)
