A wide assortment of brain candy today...

Big thanks to Greg!

Quote of the Day:

Out of the pecuniary and political pressures and fashions of the time… political systems cultivate their own versions of the truth. No one is especially at fault; what it is convenient to believe is greatly preferred… There is no serious sense of guilt; more likely there is self-approval.

J K Galbraith, in his extended essay, The Economics of Innocent Fraud.

This is a tough one but in my heart I'm on the side of banning those that are just pushing the propaganda. Wiki is a place of knowledge and not a place to get mired in dogma. As long as everyone gets to have their say and everything is notated, then it’s appropriate. What the Scientology people are trying to do is present a one-sided story in order to sway people’s opinions and to misinform. In this case banning isn’t disallowing free speech, its disallowing proven propaganda.

I have notlooked at this story yet, but I am aware that it is possible for some people to have two senses always work together, eg imaqge with sound, taste with music, and so on. It is to do with the brain somehow being triggered in two areas which are side by side at the same time.

There was once a good p0rogramme on the tv in the UK several years ago about this sort of sensory recognition.

The phenomenon is called synaesthesia.

The Russian painter Vassily Kandinsky was said to have been a synaesthetic.
