North Carolina sightings of Sasquatch may have actually been something much more practical: a man in a suit. But not exactly a traditional suit: a furry, racoon skinned garb. (image via Evening Standard)
Gawain McGregor, a visiting Minnesota man, performed a shamanistic ritual in Pisgah Woods of western North Carolina. As part of his ritual he dressed in a homemade, full fursuit made of racoon skins. When he dons the comfy costume, he feels closer to an entity called Enkidu, a spirit of the Earth similar to Sasquatch.
The members of Sasquatch Hunting troupe ‘Bigfoot 911’ reported a sighting in Western North Carolina recently. The man, Gawain MacGregor, a human, admitted later on that the local buzz was probably caused by his unique suit.
The determined group Bigfoot 911 isn’t so sure though. They hold strong belief that they witnessed an 8 foot tall monster, with “speed unmatched by human.” The encounter happened at night. When iluminated in the night by John Bruner’s headlamp, a massive bi-pedal animal covered in hair appeared. It had a “smooth, solid black face and shaggy hair.” He pursued the monster and even locked eyes with it for a few moments before it disappeared.
Maybe the shamanic smokes made their way over to the Bigfoot 911ers, or they legitimately witnessed a Sasquatch.
After all the hooplah, the Glenville NC police department posted an amusing warning to the locals about men in Bigfoot costumes: “I think we can say with some confidence that proof of Bigfoot still eludes us. If you see Bigfoot, please do not shoot at him/her, as you’ll most likely be wounding a fun-loving and well-intentioned person, sweating in a gorilla costume.”
